Accusations of cheating during the Aisling Duval kidnapping event?

This video chronicles what actually transpired during the Aisling Duval kidnapping player event:

Within a few hours of posting this video on YouTube today, there have already been fierce accusations that the Nomads, the Smiling Dog Crew, and myself, "cheated" with respect to how we handled the disappearance of the Princess (as depicted in the video starting at 6:28).

These accusations are absolutely ridiculous! Me and my forces operate *outside of the law*, and the fact that we orchestrated a con against the 13th Legion was perfectly in-character for our status as outlaws. Besides that, our opponents had plenty of opportunities to detect our con, if they would have thought to use their cargo scanners.

Commanders, what do you think? Did my side "cheat" (as we have been accused of doing), or were our actions in fact entirely permissible...nay, even admirable?

Well Royalty often have professional doubles to act as decoys - so who knows who you had in your hold at anytime.
And I've rescued more than my fair share of pods just randomly found in space - the reward isn't always that much, but you meet the most interesting sorts

I was able to verify that the first princess was indeed the real Aisling Duval using the Guardian mind-reading tech built into my flight suite, which I obtained from my xenological discovery here: https://youtu.be/JFtYAv9Ex_Q

Oh I think that was a passable "ruse" in the circumstances.... now, I'm wondering what it would be worth if someone "did" happen to know where the first um "passenger" who might or might not be a Princess (people claim all sorts of thing after all) might actually be ....

You probably don't want my answer as it has to do with honor and integrity in an interstellar group event versus rigging the outcome so that many players who opposed your side never had a chance. Trying to justify your actions by stating the opposition could have figured it out does not work. Taking a cheap way out probably is not cheating but it certainly is not admirable. So I prefer not to associate with your groups in game. Just one opinion. Well you asked.

These “kidnap the princess” events never end well.
Drew nearly had to write a pleading letter to JK Rowling over the Salome thing.

Just for clarification - did you not have an Imperial slave in your cargo before the 6 minute event - or did it disappear during the spill?

For anyone baulking at the 20 minute length - there’s good funnies all the way through. Definitely worth your time.

I’m going to advocate again for PLAYER BEACONS.
A very expensive cargo item. That a player can enter some text into. That (when scanned) will report back that text and a “first to scan” and “most recent to scan”’. The beacon should be deployable and destroyable.

I’ve been advocating for this for years now. And it would have given this whole event something to chase that was tangible and provable.
PLAYER BEACONS

Using any in game "Lore" asset is always tricky in any attempt at roleplay - that said, in this situation I don't see any harm - as I've already pointed out there is no one to reliably say if it was the real princess anyway.
Now, in all seriousness If it disapeared due to ingame glitch then the ruse of picking up a new one is fine - or even having "decoys" for the rescuers to chase after in the first place - given the limited in game tools we have to work with I'm not see-ing a real problem here.
Now, it's also just possible that she was actually picked up unnoticed by someone passing though... I mean what are the odds ?

edit - and on thinking of it - when the new player generated CG's come along - how about a search for escape pods in the HIP 12314 system or similar as everyone is worried about the dissapearance of an aspiring young Holovid actress know for playing the Princess Aisling Duval on daytime soap opera about the Duvals (Dynasty 3304 perhaps ) who has been reported missing after what seems to have been a failed kidnaping attempt by a deranged lunatic fan... hmm ?

Aisling Duval is not a true Imperial. As an Imperial, you'd be doing us a favour if you killed her.

While I do not like you, you are useful....

All those bureaucrats focused on mere insectoid pests, rather than the true threats. Aegis, who speak of unity, while hiding in shadow. The Federation, who wish to wage war wherever they go, when all that's wanted is peace. And the Alliance, who are merely Fed puppets. We must purge the universe of the impure, and bring about a new golden age of the Empire.

Long live the Emperor, long live the Empire!
