Accused of cheating?

So last night I travelled back to SD in my AspX fitted for combat (why, you may ask, and I say, why not). The ship's got a Prismatic Shield fitted and engineered armour with about 2200hp.

Cue the usual crowd of winged up gankers interdicting me. I refused to engage (no chance the Asp making a dent vs a meta FdL) but also to high wake to avoid another commute from the main star to the station.

When I got interdicted, I was almost at my destination (within the gravity well of Founders World), I somehow managed to not submit before the minigame ended, thus resulting in the loooong FSD cooldown. So initially I tried to evade the FdL firing at me, and with about 500m/s it wasn't impossible which meant I wanted to take my chances of escaping by low-waking. Because I couldn't quite outrun them, they took out my shields and about 60% of my hull at that stage - only then did I realise my FSD was still cooling down.

I then decided to take it like a man and halted to 0, awaiting my fate (and the fast track back to the station). The space cops arrived around the same time so they must've distracted my enemy, so at 41% hull and the FSD cooled down I thought "now or never" and hit the FSD again. Unexpectedly, I got away back into SC.

The next few minutes were some cat and mouse game of evading interdiction, which I managed successfully, although I had to briefly jump out of the system to re-charge my shields, just in case.

When I returned, I noticed a few lines in system chat between what I believe members of the same squadron - along the lines of

"ah THAT Asp"
my CMDR name
"something's fishy about it;)"
"reported;)"
"they'll find out"

I initially assumed that due to the smileys those comments were made in jest, but then got second thoughts.

So I tried to ask the CMDR in question what he meant by that, but then realised later when I docked that I was in normal space (trying to avoid them interdicting me again) on my own, and in local, not in system chat so they probably never received my messages. I still remember the CMDRs name (think he was even on my friends list for a while, before I did a spring clean of the same) but won't name and shame of course.

Now, to me it looks like they thought I was cheating (I wasn't), and that they reported me accordingly. I do remember another post here not too long ago (CMDR Krash I think?) where something similar happened... I'm all for reporting actual cheaters, but don't spam the report button just because you can't instakill another player with your gankboat.

Wondering if this happened to other people and whether FDev took any action against them (I would think not, given actual cheaters seem to roam freely)? I very much doubt anything will come out of this for me as I didn't do anything wrong, but it would be a shame if this stuff becomes more widespread, and would certainly leave a bitter taste, to the point of where it might be better to avoid PvP hotspots in Open in the future.

Heh yeah you're probably right...

Maybe I should install a dash cam going forward - would also serve for some light entertainment in showing me scrambling like a headless chicken making all sorts of silly mistakes (but still escaping... in an Asp;))

SD obviously, and I had a really hard time reaching Felicity in Deciat last night (1 rebuy, and countless evasions against a wing of 4 - ended up high-waking and switching to Solo as I was trying to actually engineer my ship, believe it or not).

well, this mostly goes along 2 lines lately:
1) i died, they must be cheating
2) they didn't died in 30s, they must be cheating.

the nasty part is when the commanders report to FDev their highly imaginative encounters with so-called-cheaters then complain FDev is doing nothing to combat cheats.
and the circle is complete.

I've never been accused of cheating, or not noticed, but I have an AspX built for rare CGs that sounds similar and it often gets left alone at CGs after the first failed attempt to destroy it - people should know by now... Asps can be built tough. And fast, mine boosts to 540.

Didn't know where/what SD was, Deciat- been going there regularly to try and find those causing so many "problems" but never seem to be there.
Sorry, Shinrarta Dhezra.

I don't know how matchmaking works (apart from having friends sharing an instance with them already) - I seem to be constantly instanced with various squadrons that engage in that sort of behaviour (BDSM and ROA mostly in SD, and Harry Potter's gang there and elsewhere). Unless they're (gankers I mean) actually quite a small sub-section of the player base, which is probably also true.

It depends on day and hour. Go there at Saturday evening and you will find them :)
Yeah, weekends for sure, and weekday evenings GMT. Deciat wasn't busy for me until recently (last month or so) and last night was the first time ever I actually got attacked when taking off an engineer's base.

So many acronyms only thing I could think of was South Dakota lol

I was just in the process of clearing out space on mine:

700GB of video in my temp drive another 4TB in a keep drive, and I'm still missing almost two years of my archives that I lost a while back.

I was more thinking an actual web cam behind and above my head, but that would work as well:)
