'Ace Pilot' pin idea for legal or consensual PvP duels

CQC:

  • combat between players with consent to destroy or be destroyed,
  • fixed area of combat with no escape via low or high wake,
  • log-out will be counted as a loss, .....and,
  • all craft are similar size and load-out so only pilot skill is overall winner.
(list above is neither conclusive or complete, fellows can add more if they wish)

Please explain your quoted response (above); why CQC does not offer you the game you are asking for.

Maybe because is limited to only small ships and it have completly diffrent weapons set? Fly-by boosters in CQC are some kind of joke im my opinion. Some ppl likes and enjoys PvP within Open in all kinds of ships. While CQC is nice and fun, it becomes quite boring fast, and it wont give faster heart beating like in most encounters in Open. But CQC maps if added to Open, it would be nice. Same for some of CQC weapons.

Not if they're legal kills, and basing it on NPC kills would defeat the point of it. Players are much more challenging to kill than NPCs, this would be the reward for it. Currently there is no progression/recognition for those players that are good at PvP, and combat ranking is only a good indicator at showing us who can grind the most in combat zones or RES zones.

  • Your response doesn't change what I put - the LORE aspect, which is what you tried to tout as being "why" was wrong.
  • I am sure for you players are more challenging - other players may not feel the same (like me)
  • You are correct - there is no progression for PvP-Combat within ED (wonder why ? ;))

Now, as a counter idea during the DDF we suggested some kind of Olympic-games* event but on a Galactic scale. Using the ED in game ships/mechanics; held periodically - some games for each Faction, some for different "events" (and now some for the powers), etc, etc ... If FD were to plan this right you could have seasonal (no pun) events all year round - some form of non-lethal trials lasting a week or two ramping up to knockout events to a finale in different regions of space. (Thus requiring some travel to get there - stay for a while competing - then move on)

The games wouldn't just be limited to PvP-Combat : what about races (through HUD superimposed checkpoints); gauntlet runs (NPCs try to kill you at different parts of the event); relay races (firing at your team-mate passes the baton); loads of stuff ... with mahoosive banners about the place as you enter star ports and mug shots for regional winners :)

*Sold to the players as different kinds of activities, not just PvP-Combat, will get a better response IMO.

well look at shooting someone a cop is shooting without scanning them first gives you a bounty.
Makes sense in lore, but ultimately a really bad decision for noobies
