Achenar Permit

I have an Empire rank of Knight, but have not been given a permit to access Achenar. Is there another requirement besides being a Squire or better?

It's quite some time since I earned permits, so I could be wrong...
IIRC you get a mission at an empire station which gives you the permit as soon as you reach the required rank.

Sounds like I need to keep looking for that mission then.

You should get a message informing you that you now have the Achenar permit as soon as you rank up to Squire if I remember right. No mission should be required, other than the missions to actually rank up.

I got a message I had ranked up to Squire, but no mention of a permit as a I recall, and no permit is listed in my status.

Hang on ... ~~isn't this the permit that's difficult to find? Keep doing missions and keep looking. It might be offered at one of the outstations, so use a medium pad ship (or a small one).~~

Go to a nearby system with factions also present at Achenar.
They should hand you out a permit mission.

Log out and log back in. It may be in your permits list by then

This is one achieved by rank, rather than missions (been a long time since I received it !). I could be wrong, but I think it should be automatic once Squire is passed.

Does the permit give you any benefits, apart from being able to visit Achenar?

Actually I googled and found that solution on reddit.
My own unlock was propably in 2017, can't remember any more...

Well I don't know what happened, but I logged off and went and did other stuff, and when I logged back on just now I had the permit. Guess it was just a glitch.

Knighthood probably had to await confirmation by the Emperor ... who was away from his desk for some Christmas shopping

Sorry to necro this thread, but it seems this is still an issue - 5 years later (found the first reports on Reddit from 2015..). Got a message saying I was issued the permit, but it didn't register in-game until I restarted it (and that's after jumping to a new system and docking so certainly some time had elapsed..)
