Achieving an orbital flight path in Elite: Dangerous?

If we get the trajectory and velocity exactly right, is it possible to enter orbit around a planet or sun in-game?

As I fuel scoop for example, non of my ships ever seem to be influenced and pulled towards the star at all.

Are we simply to far away from the stellar objects or traveling to fast for this to happen?

unfortunately ed has no gravity effects on your ship- just a slowing effect on SC only

I imagine orbits and such will be a part of the planetary landing stuff.
