I don't get why people like action figures. Not like G.I. Joe, but like the expensive little batman statues and stuff.

I don't get it. Kind of like how my ex would have said she doesn't get why I play video games, and then I'd be all like "Shut up!", and then she would get mad at me like I was the bad guy or something. But I digress...

I'm not saying you're wrong to like them, I'm just saying I don't understand what it is that they bring to the table for folks. They must bring something to the table, as they seem to be a pretty healthy industry.

Anyway, I request that you either (a) show me your favorite action figure, or (b) describe what it is about them that you enjoy, or (c) both.

I agree, was never into action man etc. myself, I think I looked at them as kind of dolls for boys. However: I did go through a stage of playing with toy soldiers; by that I mean battle reenactments on a table top battlefield.

I do have one "action figure" (more like statue, though) - Female commander Shepard from Mass Effect trilogy.

I don't "enjoy something about it". I loved the games. It's a decoration and reminder of a good experience. Like someone framing a photograph of their vacation, or buying a souvenir from a lady who sells sea shells on the sea shore. >.<

I suppose I would own a Cthulhu statuette, so I guess it's kind of the same thing.

I do not own any.

But I have been tempted on the odd occasion.

It has been when there's something I'm really passionate about.

Like you find something awesome, that you love, be it a computer game or whatever. That's when I've felt the urge.

It does help if the figure in question looks impressive.

Last one was this when I was deep in DOOM. But at £40 (discounted) I was like well it's neat, but still a bit too much. =p

That's a nice one. I could certainly someone wanting it.

Yeah, I said "action figures" because I didn't really know what to call them? Statues? Statuettes?
