Ok so I used google's cache to find prices from the other week before the patch hit for a good number of items (mostly ones I'm personally interested in), as I've recently come back into the game and wanted to make my ships more customized now they they are fitted.

I took the average price of ARX based from here to use in the tables above, as you'll likely end up buying a big pack and a smaller one.

So for the price for items I was only able to find them as GBP on google cache. PP = Paypal conversion shopping @ GBP but paying in USD and includes PayPal's fees... still cheaper overall to do it that way than paying directly with USD, especially for the 51000 (54000 with bonus) pack as its about $5 cheaper than USD direct.

As you can see, the packs marked with * don't exist in the store anymore so are now far more expensive to buy all the colors, but cheaper if you just wanted one or two of them as they are sold individually. The Tactical skins are cheaper now however, so not sure whats going on with that. Also some skins such as Tactical Ice and Military Black one are missing from the store currently, so those might be even more expensive as they were likely the most popular ones in their categories. Should be overall better for most people since they are individually priced now though

The Solar System bobble heads doubled in price as they are now only individually purchased but far more expensive per item.

Weapon and Engine colors are ~15% more expensive now as well.

For most other bobblehead / decals and such the prices should be the same as other items in the list, I just picked ones I was able to verify on both google cache and the store and they have the same pricing for most items.

Big thanks to CMDR DNB321 on Reddit for their informative research o7
So anyway, hope this clears up misinformation that I've seen out there and if I did miscalculate anything please let me know.

Since packs no longer exists, if you want all colors yea, you pay double or even more (salvage paints x6 = 13560 arxes, they used to be priced 3 GPB per pack)

They did advertise as a big PLUS the fact that with the arx system one will be able to buy paints individually, buy but in a very conveniently manner they forgot to tell that packs would be removed.

.... But but but.... you're completely missing the point. You can't just buy the items.. you have to buy more arx than you need, so the average arx cost is meaningless because we as humans buy ARX BUNDLES, not arx. That is the primary intention of the system, mandatory overbuys (increased human wallet outlay) contrasted to weeks or months of grinding to not do so.

That post demonstrates people are falling for the ultimate fleecing, by not noticing the wallet outlay and instead thinking its cheaper. ABSOLUTELY BY DESIGN. They got you.

Just in case you need a reminder, there is zero duplication cost, so all that matters to frontier is what they fish out of your wallet. They could with zero impact give you the entire store, sell at any price they want if it means people are going to pay more. The actual items and the numbers on them are invisible to frontier apart from bait to work the other side of the arx bundle not being considered in the op.

At this stage, for most players posting here, I can’t imagine what you would need to buy that you already haven’t got if you wanted it. A new-guy money making thing? I’m gonna spend Arx but only what I earn in-game. I’ve bought plenty in the past already.
With that said wasn’t this whole Arx thing because of X-Box and PS4? Thought I read that somewhere.

Tbf, you sound like the target market for ARX.

Let me think about this...

I don't think anyone is a target market for arx. I think arx is purely self serving to frontier.

I used to by cosmetics. Definitely not a whale but enough sure. Reflecting on my personal view of comsetics has changed, right now i think its completely clear that i personally bought cosmetics as a goodwill "thankyou" for what i subjectively viewed as great support for the game. Around the end 2.x though, this started drying up, and now in 2019, even if they made something instabuy in design, i probably would hold back because of what i see as subjective poor form with the game itself (and its not like i don't have a full set of all i need on 2.5 accounts.. not going without at the livery screen).

That's probably why frontier care so much about new players. How many limited edition super awesome anaconda skins can you sell? By the 4th its a real problem for frontier it starts looking stupid because you can only use one at once.

Yeah so i would be part of the "no faith in frontier + already saturated" demographic.

Ship kits that havent come out yet or returning ship kits you missed due to game bugs, off the top of my head.

No, PS4 and Xbox were just using an virtual currency already. How that magically translates to fault I still do not know. Personally I would just prefer to use my PSN wallet like most other game stuffs.

Let's put another slant on that. I've bought two skins out of two different packs, plus a nameplate, for £4.99.

Before, I would have paid £8 for those. And I still have 5000 Arx = £2.82 left. So if you consider that that is still money I can spend, then I only paid £2.17. That is less than the cost of one paint pack and only just over the cost of the nameplate.

And I've made around 800 Arx in the last three weeks, which is another £0.45 of spending power.

I really don't have a problem with Frontier sitting on £2.82 of my money. That's such a small amount that I can write it off.

If you can't stand the idea of Frontier sitting on your Arx, then, once you get over £2.99, no matter what the cost of your purchases, you can buy them with combinations of Arx packs and only "waste" a maximum of £2.28, all the way up to at least £250. I have the spreadsheet to prove it.

146831

(|The "price" column is calculated according to £2.99 per 5000 Arx, which is the most pessimistic.)
