This cycle was relatively quiet, Granny Torval make quick work of LTT 198 and we wish her all the best in keeping it, and also appreciate the reception by Torval Mining to our humanitarian mission. Director Kron K. is certainly a character!

We re-acquired Orgen and took Carini, overcoming action-packed ~~hauling efforts~~ pad hogging from Winters along with Power Combat Zone hungry ALD commanders crashing our party in Carini midway through the week. With all due respect, Shoo! Take your pew pews out on Archer somewhere! Kthanksbye

Looking to the week ahead, priority continues to be to consolidate our gains, we have over 23 systems acquired over the last few weeks and we'd very much like to discourage hijinks from our frenemies, which, as Scori and Orgen both demonstrate, happens with some regularity.
Great work painting the map so far this month, but let's not let that work go to waste.

At Torval we have Grzecki who is rank 1256. But has never been spotted by anyone inside the discord. Also we had one guy this week get almost 2 million merits which is completely insane. Both would be worthy of the go touch grass gang logo

Very impressive, though risk of spoiling our methodology, Grzecki doesn't appear to update his information on Inara.

As in-character as it is for the pirate faction to want everything to devolve into anarchy and to have a poor grasp of the mutual benefits of diplomacy, it can, on occasion, be helpful to be able to consider the world from another point of view.

The reality is though, that grinder probably is one of the strategists, if they are even playing the map painting game at all. Especially with mining, the best merit grinding activities generally are complete wastes for expanding the power. For AD, our prime mining spots see millions of "wasted" merits every cycle. For ALD and other combat-centric powers, Power CZ grinders end up spending millions of merits for the same system. Carini for example had ALD at 500k and ALD didn't take it, that means 2 million merits that went nowhere.

And just to clarify, I’m not referring to Delaine—we only graze your realms lightly. But it takes one view at the map to see who I am talking about.

...indeed. Same is happening for other mining systems (i.e Omicron Capricorni B, Grom's stronghold, where millions merits have been wasted). At least when rare commodity trading was still contributing for merits, it was possible to spread the effort.

Actually ZYADA has held so far in spite of attempts by certain Cmdrs to undermine it, as we work hard at diplomacy and there is still a critical mass of Imps in favour of alliance. The reason AD and ALD have larger domains than the other Imperials is that we had larger player numbers in Powerplay v1 and the starting position carried over. ALD, Archer and LYR are the fastest growing powers.

This is what makes an Empire - an Empire. an assassination attempt on any representative of the Empire is an assassination attempt on the Empire. The fact that our beloved grandmother and handsome Admiral Denton have a territory smaller than a princess and Empress only speaks of the number of players involved in the faction, otherwise Delane would have looked for a territory for himself somewhere near the colony. You can tell a story in which Delane broke into LTT 198 and conquered the system, or you can look at it from a different angle, where a wise grandmother, realizing that getting slaves was becoming increasingly difficult, lured the pirates, and then slammed the trap. And now she has a fresh addition, where the pirates who did not manage to escape will rot for the rest of their lives, mining Bitcoin for grandma

Why do you think it's important? It may be important to you, pew pew and where's my beer and that's probably why you're with the Archon. For us Imperials, it's different. The Empire has its own unique style, you just don't notice it. For one Interdictor to be my personal command, I would give a lot, even real money. Even the Federals' Farrgut isn't as stylish, although it's better armed and protected.

Our traders feel at ease on the territory of the empire. There is progress, development, technology. BGS players feel comfortable (well... as much as PP2.0 allows). What else do you need? Well, feel like you're part of something huge and great, even the Federals don't have that now. And most likely you understand this, you are simply forced to resist, the Empire has something that you will never have and never will be, because of your style of play. Yes, you have many great pilots and daredevils, but the empire has more of them. The Archon is also a small faction, it is far from even the Federals. This is how it happened historically. I doubt more will be added, and if they are they should be cool independents and not uncool.

Sadly the Empre just lacks coolness. Its not fair but thats how it is- even with four powers the cool factor is low.

If I'm not mistaken, the beacon about the Club's mention still exists in POI. So it's still part of the lore.

There is a lot of leftovers (like Thargoid space, various permit systems) so I should not read into that too much. The main author of the Club no longer works with FD and the plot has been left for years.
