Either something the CORVAS says or just a chime, along with a visual cue as well I guess.
One of the great new things Adam was saying about the new FSS is how quick it is and demonstrated by quickly zooming in and out on a blob of contacts, but one of the problems with it being so fast is that it's incredibly easy to miss if you've found a bio/geo/xeno site unless you slow right down (which defeats the benefit of it being quick).
And as far as I can tell there's no log to skim through after that tells you you've found something interesting.
I went out to two guardian systems, and even though I knew something was in that system I still missed the planet with the guardian base - twice!
I imagine if I organically run into something in the black I will more than likely completely miss it.
So a simple audio/visual cue would be a massive improvement for a small change.
The use of sound in the FSS is already great, with contacts having their own unique sounds - on my return leg I even ran across a system with lot of Degraded Emissions, one of them wasn't the standard 'dit dit dit' so bode investigating, when I got to it I found a large data cache. I thought that was a very nice bit of user experience.
