First, let me be clear. I voted for delayed ship & module transfer. I still believe this was the right call. However, it is true that on occasion, the wait leaves you with little to do whilst waiting for your ship or modules to arrive.

After playing Assassin's Creed 3, and seeing an off the cuff comment in another thread, I'd like to suggest here, in the relevant sub-forum, that adding board games to the starport services could be beneficial.

Traditional games such as checkers, nine man's morris, and a whole manner of other games could be suitable. Indeed, I say traditional as these games were played by the sailors of old. And players of Elite are essentially sailors of the future. A nice little nod to maritime tradition.

Perhaps even a token betting mechanism could be added. Nothing crazy. Cap it at 10 credits, lose it if you lose, get 20 back if you win.

I think it could be a valuable solution to the waiting problem.

Ship transfer is really a convenience option; if you are going to order your ship and sit there twiddling your thumbs asking for something to do, why don't you just...go get your ship? Save yourself time, money and tedium. Ship transfer doesn't need to be the de facto method of moving around.

Seems like a perfect place to key CQC, in with the main game to me.

Board game is a pretty funky idea though pretty sure many won't approve however .. since microsoft decided to kill their good online version, and as nothing stepped up to replace it, I fee pretty sure that Elite Pilot's Federation Commanders play backgammon, more backgammon and nothing but backgammon.

I'm sort of with Stitch on this.. Usually when I'm transferring my assets to a new station I would find other things to do... Including running missions from the new "home base" I've chosen.
