Some context: You can control a thruster boost by using the cargo hatch or the landing gear. Having any of these out prevents your ship absolute velocity from increasing. This is especially useful to maneuver an agile ship into the blind spot of a less agile ship and keep there. Boosting without using cargo scoop or landing gear makes you often overshoot the target, creating too much distance, and thus letting the enemy ship get their guns aligned on you.
The problem is then the following. The landing gear requires no power to work, but the cargo hatch does (0.6MW is quite something). The cargo hatch has built in HOLD keybind functionality in the game, but the landing gear does not. Thus, players that use a script to create a manual HOLD key behavior for the landing gear get an advantage. They can use a HOLD behavior boost breaker while having 0.6MW of extra power plant to spare. Which let's you change powerplant settings to have better thermals etc..
I personally have a way to make such a script, but I think it would be nice if the game supported it by itself.
I think it would be a small change to allow us to set landing gear keybind behavior to HOLD, which the game currently does not support.
