General Add Hypoxia Symptoms When Oxygen Reserves Low

I think it would be really cool if the screen went black over the course of 30sec-1min after oxygen reserves ran out (in the event life support was turned off/damaged or the canopy was destroyed). Currently, the timer running out just immediately kills the player in a somewhat jarring and arguably unrealistic way.

A recommendation from me would be to reuse the blackout visuals already in the game (from emergency dropping out of SCO or using too aggressive of maneuvers in glide). Using that as a baseline, you could effectively simulate the PC holding their breath, and then their vision going black from lack of oxygen/hypoxia.

Additionally, you could add a side effect that makes controls less responsive as time passes. For example, controls could move more slowly, in uncontrolled directions, or not at all.

These modifications could increase the immersion level of the game and make running out of oxygen much more exciting for the player.

I have run out of fuel and also run out of air due to a lost canopy. Both experiences took me back to the hospital room where I was with my father as he died.

The audio at least is realistic enough to truly give nightmares.

It really doesn’t need to be enhanced.

I have seen demonstrations of hypoxia on documentaries about high altitude flight there is nothing exciting about losing the ability to count.

Oh l think Ops idea has merit. Blurring vision etc. Would add to the whole horrid affair when the canopy pops.

I am sure you are an absolute VR hero, but for the average human, a disconnect between your head movement in reality and moving the head in VR is probably ten times worse than the usual disconnect between moving in VR but not moving in real life. That's why high refresh rates and low latency are so important, and that's why you get nauseous with low refresh rates, if your game stutters or your tracking lags. That's also why even have a fixed image stuck to your VR headset, like the one on ED startup, already feels weird.

Not a good idea.
