Add on's won't add

My son used his birthday gift card to purchase all of the extra dinosaurs through the PS4 store. He can't seem to get it to show up in the game.
We restored licenses, de/activated primary PS4, checked storage, and deleted game and reinstalled from his disc.

What else can we do to get the $50 he spent to show up?

Hello! PS4 User here.
Sorry to hear of this, I do wish to ask. Is the game a digital download or a physical copy? Often times physical copies will only accept DLC from the same region the disc has been assigned with.

I am happy to follow up until we could sort this out 👍

The game is a physical copy. We purchased the game from a local store. Not too sure what region that would be.

Hmm okay we could figure this out:

Usually on the box of the game, there will be a tiny globe icon with a 1 or 2 on it (sometimes 3). This represents which region the disc is from.

So if it is a 1: It is mostly US
Region 2: would make it a european region.

So I also would like to ask if you know what the region of the account is?

So the little globe has the number 2. But we are in the US.
Does that mean it won't work? Can we get a refund?

It is best to refund the physical game. I do not know if you could refund the DLC after purchase.

If you wish to make the most of the game, either get the physical region 1 disc of the game to make it work. Or just go with the digital copy from the same PS store you got the DLC from, a safer alternative because the game is from the same source as the DLC.

I apologise for this inconvenience, it is rather annoying as Playstation has been doing this since the PSP era, where region restrictions made sense. Now it doesn't since the world is more globally connected but the restrictions are outdated. I hope this changes. And I hope this helped.

We can't refund the game as he's been playing with it since his birthday in March.
Basically, we would have to spend another $50 for a new game to use the add ons?

That would not be necessary. The game does go on sale on the psn in a monthly basis from what I have seen, so he could continue with his game for now and get the digital version later when it becomes cheaper.

But unfortunately yeah. The PS4 is region free, but DLC is tied to the account's region. I would wait and see if a sale is to be made this week as it is going to be the game's 2nd year anniversary when June 11th comes. But if you wish to use the DLC, you have to have a copy of the game from region 1 (US), and psn download from the account that got him the dlc would be the safer option.

That is a good point. Have you tried this out?
One way to see if this is possible is to go to the main campaign save file and load up the research tab.
Each new dinosaur from DLC is brought up in the research dinosaur tab. So Carnivore dinosaur pack, cretaceous dinosaur pack, and herbivore dinosaur pack would have their respective dinosaurs bundled in the reasearh tab.

My son said he completed the campaign and has all the islands at 4 stars.
Comparing your picture to his. He only has the Fallen Kingdom update and the Fossil access ones show up. None of the other packs show up.

So we were able to return the game even if it was past the date. So we can get the Region 1 version.
