Add shop to an existing building

How do I go about adding shop stalls to an existing building. Example....Copy the Pirate Toilets building, delete the cans, fill in one side of the building to remove the archway and redecorate the backside, on the front side, fill it in with shop front window wall opening pieces, then........

How do I actually go back and fill in the 4 or 5 openings with shops as they are just empty openings. I tried getting a custom shop and the darn thing believes I want to build a new building stand alone. I want to put 5 shops in the same building. Can someone help?

Ahhhh... There's more to this, which is a fussy bug (?) issue.

First, there REALLY needs to be a delete button anytime you open a shop info panel. There used to be, but they changed them.
So the issue you are facing, is that scenery (the string lights) block selecting the building.
You could just delete stuff that's in the way and put it back later.
What I found was, it wasn't just the lights, it was also the archway blocking you from clicking on the toilet.
The fix?

Go inside the building, where you hopefully get an unobstructed view of the stall, then click it, and hit your delete key.
You will have to use the keyboard to navigate inside a wall. (WASD)
Easy enough, just not as it SHOULD be.

Additional information...I could remove the existing stalls but I cannot get it to let me put the new ones in. Each acts as if it is an individual building wanting me to build a new facade around the booth its self. I have removed the archway and decorations plus the light and the front wall panels then put the panels with the shop window in their place but not the booth inside. The booth does not seem to want to merge with the building its self.

I hate to ask seemingly dumb questions, but, were you still in the buildings edit mode when you selected the new shop?

I had no problem in doing it for the video. So that's the only thing I can think of. You just selected the building, but didn't go into edit?

I have tried it both ways....when I tried to add the shop and clicked add to building maybe I did not catch it switching over to edit building mode which changed the rotation keys however, the booths would end up at 45 degree angles to the scenery or would refuse to snap into the window slots as the shop insists on snapping to a full square on the grid. Grid editing is something I am not totally familiar with yet so maybe its something to do with the grid positions. This is espcially the case with some of the other buildings. It would be nice if the stalls were generic and you could renovate them into whatever type of stall you wanted without going to all the trouble. It seems for some reason it was not properly selecting the building to put it in. I have tried again and with other buildings it works fine. Guess I will have to rebuild the building.
