General Add Size 9 (512t) Cargo Racks for the New Panther Clipper MK2

Hi everyone,

With the arrival of the new large ship in Elite Dangerous, I’d like to propose adding Size 9 (512t) Cargo Racks as an optional module for this vessel. Currently, our cargo capacity options top out at size 8 racks (256t), which can be limiting for such a massive ship.

Here are three reasons why I think Size 9 cargo racks would be a great addition:

  1. Better Utilization of Internal Space:
The new ship’s huge internal compartments are a perfect opportunity to introduce larger cargo racks, making full use of its design and purpose as a true heavy freighter.
  2. Enhanced Gameplay Variety:
Larger cargo modules would support more diverse playstyles—especially for traders, smugglers, and squadrons working together—allowing us to specialize our builds and optimize for large-scale trading or cargo missions.
  3. Increased Fleet and Squadron Utility:
The new ship is likely to be used in fleet logistics and group operations. Bigger cargo racks would make it a genuine flagship for mining ops, community goals, and player-driven supply chains, offering real benefits for organized groups.
I believe this addition would help the new ship stand out and offer more meaningful choices for commanders who want to focus on trading and logistics.
Thanks for considering!

PC2 cargo racks top out at 384t for size 8 and 192t for size 7.
Any trader who can afford it will fly it. It already stands out.

Edit: Just read the wiki. "It's the same capacity as a fully-laden Type-8 and Imperial Cutter put together."
Actually, that’s exactly why I think now is the perfect time to introduce an even larger cargo rack—like a Size 9 module—with this new ship.
Since this vessel already pushes the boundaries of cargo capacity, it would make sense to offer something truly new, fitting its role as a true super-freighter.
In my opinion, this is the ideal opportunity to go beyond the current limits and give traders and logistics-focused players even more options!

something truly new
Arguably 'trader-only slots' is more new than 'size 9 cargo module'... because now we need to make other size 9 things for variety or they will only ever use cargo in it... but cargo-only slots can potentially affect any other ship they (hopefully) decide to retroactively add to pre-existing ships, as they did with the Type-9 when the Cutter dropped.

Actually it is the perfect time to see how much this 50% buff to cargo capacity messes up existing game play before deciding to make things even more PC2 or nothing by adding even more capacity.

Now I will admit I have suggested such racks but that was for a PC2 that only had 5 optional racks all of that size so shields and a fuel scoop would cost you 1024t capacity so the overpower came with a risk.
