Add weapon color orange

...seems that engine color orange is available but weapon color is not.

Ok, confirmed, that the default weapon color is orange, but not for all weapons. So please provide orange or better make the default color behave like any other specifically applied weapon color.

I personally feel the colours should have been used to indicate the weapon type and engine grade/engineering base instead of purchasable "pretty pretty look at my purple"

Yes, but only for lasers. All other weapons (including the mining laser) are not orange.

That ship has sailed now. Besides, weapon saturation/brightness changes depending on engineering effect anyway.
