Horizons Adder as a punk hunter??

Humnn,, Another place where Frontier does a lousy job of documentation. Nothing I know of limits Packhounds to a some specific "class".

So,, switch to this >> https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/adder?code=A3p5t5F5l4d5saf30s2e24050n02402o2f2i.AwRj4jRI.Aw1+kA==. <<

At any rate, today the reason I want my Adder to be able to fight materialized. Dropped into a system that the GM said was KNOWN but the ADS immediately found 14 new objects. Active scan found 24 more. Finished scooping, opened the NAV panel and targeted the nearest unexplored object. Turned out to be a belt cluster and since I was right on top of both it and the star I set speed to "0" while I scanned. Before that scan was complete I was hit with an interdictor and immediately dumped into normal space. Amazingly I was facing the punk so I locked to scan and put my finger on one of my prototype evasive action keys. Got the scan while his pulse laser(s) was only hitting about every 3rd-4th pulse. Again a Cobra MK III which I suspect is going to be the ship of choice for these punks. Hit a prototype escape key and got away with 50% shield and no structural damage.

Went back and scanned the belt cluster.. Metal Rich. Just like at least 95% of the other times I have been interdicted during a scan of some object. Nice system. It will bring me another 20,000+ CR

------------5/8/17-------------------

I think the above was a fluke or maybe I got a scan of a ship other than the punk(s).
Found a way to thwart the interdiction so I can get a scan of the punk while still in supercruise. So far 5 for 5 have been the cheap Eagle's. They have all had manifest scanners and no shields.

A properly equipped Adder should be able to take him. When I have my Cobra MKIII at full load I think I will be able to eat them for lunch and not break a sweat.

Follow the thread.
I do not yet have the weapons.
I do not yet have the macros written.
I do not yet have things set up to video.

I had no intentions of even facing anything. That said, it did demonstrate to me that the basic tactics I plan to employ should work. I got the scan so I could decide to fight or run and I was able to get it without dying.

Well, as much as I dislike the idea, it has become clear to me that I will have to abandon this quest until I can upgrade my hardware. Particularly my power supply.

I have been writing and testing the macros for more complex/faster actions with the hard points deployed while firing the weapons. Computer started shutting down on me.

I am using a Dell 790 SFF with the stock power supply running a GTX 745 (OEM) GPU. A Dell tech told me it would work and it does but he also said the power supply might shut down when the GPU was starting to run above about 90% of it's rating.

Well, the GPU is only 40% of the recommended so even under routine play it is probably running near 80% so when I push the video requirements, I am getting computer shutdowns. His best suggestion was try improving the airflow but he wasn't very hopeful.

I have a line on an external power supply and this isn't the place to talk hardware so don't.

BUT, as the old movie line goes,, "I'll be back."

Hoorraahh!! I think. Got a PM suggesting I set Option>Graphics to LOW. Seems to have worked and quite frankly on my 17 inch monitor I cannot tell the difference between LOW and HIGH.

So, Proceeding onward.

As I was looking at the ships I noticed that the Cobra MKIII description was indicating that it had better maneuverability than my Adder. Went back to that outdated ship comparison page and it still shows the Adder at 8 vs 6 for the Cobra MKII but that updated page now shows the Cobra at 152 maneuverability VS 150 for the Adder.

OK, Latest update downgraded the Cobra MKII to 150 and puts the Adder at 152.
