Newcomer / Intro Adder opinions/advice please

Howdy Forum

I bought into beta sometime ago but have only had time to play the last week or so. Mostly I've been derping around and getting very little constructive done, (but enjoying every minute of it), I'm looking to upgrade from my Eagle to an Adder and wonder if people who have owned one can tell me if its suitable for what i'm planning?

I should say I have no interest in trading, none. The big attraction in ED for me is that you have to put effort in for the reward, trading only seems viable earnings too time wise if you use a 3rd party program/site, I don't want to do this as for me it breaks the immersion and seems a little cheaty. (I have no problem with other people using these tools/sites, people can play how they want, I just choose not too).

My plan is too at first fit it for mining, stay on solo play, and chip away at some rocks while I catch up listening to a few hours of podcasts/roll play series I follow, (I do expect some npc hassle, not saying I can AFK while doing this, even if the mechanics would allow it). Hopefully after that I should have the money to fit the medium discovery scanner and head off into the middle of no where and see what I can find. My questions are?

Is the Adder suitable for these roles, I hear the cargo scoop is a pain and the view is restricted, will it require a large investment in modules initially for the mining?
With one slot taken up b a mining laser what weapons on the other 2cpoints will be enough to fend off them pesky NPC pirates? Or will I have to leg it? If so can I bravely run a way fast enough or will I mostly be toast?
When exploring best to strip down to nothing much but fuel scoop and scanner, or keep myself armed?

Any advice appreciated.

Very suitable if you don't mind a limited front view.
There is a slight issue with the scoop, but if you slightly lift the nose right before scooping and offcenter the rock a little to the left, it works fine.

I would use the size 2 top center mount hardpoint for a gimbaled weapon (great in turning fights since it will even track a target off screen)>
And the other two for mining lasers... or one..

It's got plenty of room for a nice refinery and storage.

Only thing, it is a bit slow, about as fast as the Sidey. But it can really hold its own in a fight if you need it.

Thanks for speedy response Sargon, just been looking at it in game and a 2 hopper refinery is more expensive than I thought, but with the changes to last hits on bounties shouldn't take too long if I loiter around a nav beacon.

Read on this forum it was a bit of an issue, but my first attempt at docking took about 30 mins, can zip in and down in no time now after just a few nights play, don't mind a bit of failing if I pick it up eventually.

 didn't happen in the eagle, assume ship shape/point placement allow them to turn more.

Cheers for advice, fly safe. (or not, which ever you prefer ;))
