Adding Custom Fonts to the game.

Hey Guys,

My name is Jelle. I really enjoy playing Planet Coaster, There's only one thing I hope that will be added when a new update arrives.

Would it be possible to make a system where you can add custom fonts to the game? Such as you now can do with the TV Screens and Projector Screens?

I hope that this will be added in a new update.

I have hoped for this for a while as well. Andy once commented that it is a little more difficult than just adding in the custom font by the user. I can’t find his exact comment, but currently the font files are actually embedded within the .OVL file and not separated out in their own folder.

But i still would welcome this should it ever be implemented

Yes please!

The lack of fonts drives me nuts as does the limited number of characters you can have on a sign. I would've thought that you could shrink the text to fit the sign so that lots of text would shrink to fit, which is how it would work in real life.

Some of the fonts are almost unreadable too!

Scrolling signs

Scrolling signs would also be a good idea, i know tv screens can do this, but that would mean having to produce the text first, then change it to the right format.

Great idea. I've also often thought that there are too less fonts in PC.
But if it is not possible to give us the option to load own fonts in game, it would be great to offer more fonts.
Here's my personal wish list of new fonts. All fonts in the list are free fonts.

Sure. But why choose a complicated way, if you can take the in-game signs, where you just have to put in a text. ;)

I for one would love to see more of non-crazy fonts. Sans-serif and serif fonts. Realistic fonts.

Also, another thing to think of, fonts are properties of the creators and the foundries. It is not always to say "hey let's have this font". They have to strike a deal with the creator of the font.

I think this is one of the fonts ingame. It is good to read the license of this. Fonts with same type of licensing would work.

That's correct Helena. But many fonts are freeware. And Frontier shouldn't go bankrupt if they have to pay the one or other license to offer fonts in the game. ;)

I would like a hugely expanded variety of billboards. The ones we have are nice, but do not lend themselves well to creating store signs. They are all fairly large, and work for things like ground cover, walls, or floors, but not much of anything else.

Please, more readable fonts, and an expanded billboard selection!

Also have to consider that the font has to have wide range of characters so it can be used by many users with special characters.

I am not 100% sure about the existing fonts with support for example Japanese characters, but it is quite hard to find fonts that are THAT diverse.

I agree.. But like Helena says... Even if a font is "free" that is usually only if you plan to use it for personal, non-commercial use. So it would be pretty expensive, I'd imagine, for Frontier to buy rights to fonts. That said... If the alternative is to use art shapes, then for crying out loud give us smaller shapes with a wider variety of shapes! Ha ha!

YES, with adjustments

It would have to work like how to insert custom media, by adding a folder that accepts .ttf and .otf files, they would also need a stabalization feature to keep it from going invisible or cut off. In Fact, we should be Able to change the Size of the Text, maybe even make it bevel or be 3D, or disconnect it to be its own thing, like in sketchup, but a bit more Cobra engine friendly[up][up][up][yesnod]
