Addition of stellar phenomena and catastrophes

There are all kinds of stars and planets in Elite, however it is hard to believe that in the vast galaxy there are no ongoing stellar phenomena such as planetary collisions & shattered planets, stars being destroyed by black holes, supernovas etc. Addition of such events would make galaxy more beautiful and lively, exploration more fun, and could become a basis for events, whilst still having scientific background.

The ED galaxy doesn't work like that, everything that's there is essentially frozen in time, nebula planets etc, they don't change and I doubt they could retrofit a system to do it.

And even if it was possible most of this events would not be witnessed by any player because of galaxy size.

Small events like meteor burning in atmosphere could be randomly added to player instance.

Well, to see this happening would be great, but highly unlikely and unnecessary. To see the concequences would be enough.
In this case it's just a matter of designing the skin and respective attributes based on existing stellar or planetary objects.

It could be done and I personally think it should.
Big events like collapsing stars/colliding planets could be announced before the event as these thing would be conceivably discovered by astronomers.
Local smaller events would be discovered by a cmdr after a system scan giving details when it will happen and what the phenomenon is,this information would be shared with the community.
All of this could be procedurally generated by the stellar forge.
