Additional Exploration Bonuses

1) I think exploration payout should increase based on distance from the bubble.

2) There should be a bonus on the bodies explored if you explored the last body in the system. The bonus should be based on the number of bodies in the system. (bigger the system, bigger the bonus)

Reason:
I would expect cartographers would want information on complete systems. Not all this fragmented stuff they keep getting. Obviously valuable planets are desired, but the full system must be better for providing an assortment of data like orbits, gravitational effects, debris fields, etc.

We already get a bonus. You are looking at it all wrong. Like the Bubble, because they already been explored you will get a lower payout. A well-travelled location like Beagle point, Jaques Station, or Saga A* or Any nebula. Because people take the most direct route they are following other people routes. So you get a lower payout.

Now if you offset your route 1000 ly in any direction Going to point A to B in any location you can earn that bonus of first discovery because you are traveling less travel locations.

I thought you only got a bonus for the first discovery.

I am saying discovery data from 5k ly away should be worth more than 500 ly.

Thing is anyone can get to the 65,000 ly with no issue even when the game was released in 2014. Unless they are not paying attention or under the influence of something.

There no risk going in the deep. With a few Station out in the deep, we don't need a bonus.

I did point out avoiding the main highways (direct route) so you can always get the bonus. Remember we only have like .06% (A guess) explored. We have 400,000,000,000 systems to explore and with the whole player base we only viewed .06%

That why I always say offset your course. So you can get 95% of the bonus.

No. For the simple reason this is another "I want more" post.

I might agree if the current payouts were the maximum at the greatest distance from the bubble. And as you got closer to the bubble they pay out less. Achievements should be a challenge again.

This really was not intended as an "I want more" post. Rather "If I was a cartographer what would I pay for?"

It seemed logical that as distances increase (especially to the extreme) the data should be considered more valuable. I'm not talking about a 200% bonus. (I don't understand why "exploring" stuff already explored inside the bubble pays anything at all.) To argue my own point however, perhaps discovering a gold mine in my back yard is more valuable than discovering one in the Antarctic.

And point #2... this would encourage more complete exploration rather than jump/scan/jump/scan. Plus I just thought it made sense that incomplete mapping isn't very great.

I realize exploration isn't very difficult. Just time consuming. But how is that different from space trucking? Anyway, maybe you are right. I am pretty new to the game. Just figuring stuff out.[smile]
