Additional mission ideas.

As the thread suggests...

Civilian

1 - Taxi service for NPC's.

Cargo bay life support upgrade would be required perhaps.

2 - Cartography mission - Go and explore and fully scan [random unexplored system within realistic distance].

Self explanatory.

3 - Scan X ship for Y cargo.

Self explanatory - Return to mission giver with details.

4 - Recover X items [without said items becoming illegal].

Self explanatory.

5 - Rescue survivors from X ship.

Cargo bay life support upgrade would be required perhaps.

Military

1 - Escort duty - Escort X ship to Y destination.

Self explanatory.

2 - Recover X log from Y ship [without log becoming illegal].

Self explanatory - Return to mission giver with details.

3 - Photography missions [perhaps when planetary landings come along].



.... Just a few random ideas I feel could be implemented with minimal input, maybe. :)
 
I just thought of another military mission type --- Resupplying Cap ships in conflict zones. Would add a bit of spice for some truckers who don't necessarily want combat, per se.
 
I suggested in another thread, the extra seat in some ships could be used to transport a VIP. That could lead to some very interesting and amusing dialogue from them if you get interdicted or start flying erratically...

Look, I know it said the mission would fail if the ship is destroyed but I'd really prefer if it didn't come to that...
Oh crap, I'm going to be sick... Blech! Don't worry, I'll get someone to clean it up when we get there... IF we get there in one piece at this rate.
You do realise that were are supposed to get there sometime THIS year?

The sarcasm and unhelpful dialogue could make you wish you hadn't taken the job but it pays too well to refuse it.

All very good ideas. I want more mission types so bad. Hopefully most if not all of these are mad a reality in the near future.
 
Convoy missions: attack/defend

Assassination/stealth missions : heat sinks must be used. detection = failure

Installation attack missions : attacking military/pirate bases

Scavenger/recovery missions : searching for items in amongst the remains of massive battles or abandon installations

Rescue missions

All these would greatly expand once we are able to leave our ships and land of planets.
