ADMIRAL CMDR to Lead a Fleat of NPC Crew Members Flying Your Ships

Good evening.

To make use of the Admiral rank, why not allow your NPC Crew members to fly your ships with the ADMIRAL CMDR being the NPC Wing Leader.

You'd be able to fly with up to 3 NPC Ships in your wing according to how many you have hired.
These NPCs would Nav-Lock on you and you can give orders as already available on "Panel 3".

This would potentially increase your rebuy costs (imagine losing 4 Cutters)... and most definatly increase your thrill leading a NPC squad.

I'd love to see that!

I like the idea, though I don't have many ideas outside of how that Star Trek Online fleet thing works, in terms of having the other ships in your collection being used by your NPC crew
 
+1. This "admiral of the rear" stuff won't ever be belivable without this.

For starters, I suggest simply adding some missions which would generate some limited amount of friendly NPCs for you during one mission USS.
 
We already have limited NPCs as Crew members to hire (max 3 of them).
For cargo transporting, you could have your Type-10 + 3 more docked and you'd be able to see the sum of all cargo holds available for you to purchase commodities. I think this would be somewhat easy to implement.

Regarding missions, we have already Wing Missions available... we could accomplish them assisted by our own NPC Crew members.

I think this should be integrated into combat/trade/exploration rank, increasing the number of npc crew wingmates one could have progessively, with the max at elite.
Perhaps the Fed/Empire ranks could provide a progressive discount on rebuy or crew salary for federal/imperial navy ships.
 
Given the famous capabilities of NPC pilots why not...

I expect to have fun lurking in front of a station just to watch the Admiral's fleet crash into one another and one of them killing the Admiral accidentally by friendly fire when the security steps in to clear up the chaotic situation in the grill :D
 
Let's not get ahead of our self's. How about we fix all the god d#$% bug's in 3.0 before we worry about any of this. Just saying before 3.0 everything work pretty decent.
 
The Major Power ranks are purely honourary in any case - its not like the Federation Navy will let you commandeer one of their capitol ships just because you've bumped your way to Admiral rank - you are still not part of the Navy, nor does becoming a King give you a chance with the Emperor's daughter.

These ranks are simply milestones, things you cannot avoid if you play long enough. If your progress could decrease due to your style of play, and have titles revoked, then they could be seen as an achivement instead.

That all said - there should be scope for something like NPC wings under your command, and having to hire the NPCs and provide the ships is an interesting take.
 
Yep, imagine going exploring with your NPC carrying some repair/fuel limpets... some extra cargo slot. Then you could switch ships to do the repairs/refueling. I think this would be a great addition to all aspects and activities of the game.
