[AdoredTV] Star Conflict

Damn I had fun playing this today!

I was really put off by the interface spam early on but when I finally gave the game a go I was really surprised at just how much fun I had.

The video is an easy start tutorial for anyone who hasn't already played it, and my first 2 pvp battles.

It's not that bad but it might cost you a lot more than Elite: Dangerous if you plan to stick around.

Did you end up dropping a lot of cash on it? I've never really been one to drop a lot of cash on games like these but I'll maybe buy a ship or two if I really enjoy it. I've got so much to play these days I'm not sure if those days are over as well though.

On that particular game? No, because I already knew what this is all about when I started to play Star Conflict. Other similar games? Oh yes! :( I know that I can spend much if it start to suck me down so I learned to avoid such titles.

I prefer spending rl money in games on cosmetics. Once you let money to influence gameplay it can end badly, at least for my wallet.

It's not that I suggest that game is bad. It's quite alright and teamplay based. You can have a lot of fun there, especially if you have friends to play with. But it can really chew your wallet if you try to invest in the game. And by "invest" I mean that you get excited, spend a lot of time and want to see some results. If you down with casual pew-pew and doesn't care about victory - you should be alright. Otherwise it can be a chore or money drain.

How do you think it compares to Star Citizen in terms of "fun" gameplay? Maybe not fair on Star Citizen as it's still in alpha, but interested to know your thoughts on that anyway.

As for dropping cash on games, I spent an ungodly amount of cash on Magic: The Gathering a couple of times in the past. That's the only one I had to step back from and say "no more of this".

Star Citizen? Sceptical. It probably get's finished when I get old, on pension and senile. It will not matter to me then anyway. Otherwise I think it's oriented on adult auditory that can be squeezed for a lot of cash and given bogus promises in return. Because no matter what players/customers imagine themselves - it will be different game and they will be different. It's a lot of time ahead. I'm not fond of SC although it's quite a success. It's not only capitalize on selling ships and influencing gameplay. It killing the market just by being developed in way that it does and being funded in a way it does. A lot of people will/might/are get bitter and hardly support anything else even if it's worthy of attention. With that being said I might be totally wrong and it's my own personal opinion.

I spent few hundred bucks on cosmetics in Warframe, same in Loadout and some other games and does not regret it. Those games are fun and developers deserved my support just because they were humble enough to let me have fun for free without any constrains. It was up to me how much (If at all) I want to support them.

Now this?

I guess I spent same amount of money combined that I spent on sometics in other games just buying bullets only for few years straight. I'm not even counting guns/consumables. Shame. It's a fun game but it drained my wallet and It's a wrong way to play games :(

I guess it really depends on the person. I've dropped a lot of money on some games ie World of Warcraft, but that was subscription based over years. As mentioned earlier I spent a crapload on Magic too, though that was pretty unhealthy due to how competitive I got with it. I guess that's the key ;)

Stuff like this Star Conflict, World of Warships, World of Tanks etc I find fun but rarely spend much, if any, money on them. I did read a few years ago that only 2% of players spend cash on these games, but they must be spending an awful lot for it to be viable.

I didn't played Star Conflict in a while but I guess if I want to have fun there I will be forced to cough up around 150 bucks to feel myself comfortable. And that's just to start playing since I remember those unique ships are quite better than stock ones. I want to have fun, I'm short on time and losing battle after battle ain't that fun. Sure good teamwork solves everything but most good teams have paid ships anyway so it will be quite hard to level the field. And you'll have to repair stuff... and if you did not invest much time you'll have to spend money.

I might be wrong though. It's just my own opinion.
