The question is, how much more data is being stored other than the lists that you're giving... Keep in mind we're also flying in a ship by a program that's basically a
client. The server seems to be controlling a lot more including how you -- as the client -- interact with the universe at large. But to cover a few more of them, consider this more a warning rather than a deterrent...
Seems that this taking off and leaving a station is a recurring theme in suggestions as of late. While I like the thought of it, as a ship's pilot I have often watched the NPC pilots working some really demented logic as to preference to leaving a station. Particularly when it comes to the bigger ships like the Type 9s, the Orcas and the Belugas which should have on the back of their ships: "
we brake for no one". Until the devs can actually address how to better control preferences for ships leaving a station -- you know like we see with airports.
Remapping and re-working the menu per individual that plays the game while being extremely useful for the customization and immersion of the game is going to require a lot of re-coding. Is it possible? Yes. Will we see it in the next year? No, most probably not. There are a ton of other changes to the UI that should be done as well, and I've been around long enough to know, it's not happening soon either. What we have is what we have in the meantime. Expect a long wait for more.
I do know that there are some games out there that have the ability to hook into local media players (WiMP and iTunes specifically, WinAMP on another game long since dead), and even one or two games that allow for playing streaming music. Again, something like this would require coding additions. This would be based on the whims of the coders/developers and truth be told, it would be entirely based on the whims and ease of that programming. I wouldn't be holding my breath on this given that it hasn't been done yet.
You can already set HUD colour. It feels obscure and esoteric, but it's there. Oh you mean in game. Yeah.. Not going to happen when you have the ability to do so from the inf file.
Storing trade data in an active market is like herding cats. First of all, this will take a lot more coding, which will require a lot more drive-storage. Next, you're dealing with time limits as to the validity of that data. What happens if for some reason you take a day off? A week? A month? Should it be updating in real-time or be static as this implies? I could see static, but I can guarantee if it were added to the game, the demands for real time information would then come
pouring in. Imagine how quickly the client/server communication would become clunky, and how much rubber-banding would happens with the rework of the code can be as it's updating trader information for that 1/3 of the Pilot's Guild.
At the moment, I see that as being handled elsewhere better... And even then it's dealing with delays...
Etc...? Really? that's a catch all... If I'm not a telepath, I guarantee you the devs aren't either
