Advanced Discovery scanner where and how i get it?

So...

Ive been playing now the game for about 40 hours...

Done alot i think already...

Got me a DiamondBack Explorer, love the ship!

Tried others out too, liked the type 6 but ill stick with the explorer for now, like the feel, looks and handling better, will try others as i get money for it, the ASP and the Kraith are on the list.

But as much exploring, courier missions, some combat, bounty hunting and cargo hauling i did so far, i liked exploration the most as far as this moment so ill stick with that.

I have the biggest scoop and FSD i could fit, a vehicle lander (SRV), and am not yet totally geared for exploration alone since i got guns, point defense, armor, shields and other systems upped and can only max jump to 25ly. (simple to fix just add D rated equipment and loose the hull addons.

But i do have an issue that i need some assist with, and that is despite using tools outside game that say where is the advanced discovery scanner being sold last (going for the ones around me that have got it 1day or less, mostly places that had it 9 hours or 1 hour ago on sale suposedly) i get there and dont find it on sale?!

So my question is:

Is there a rank, reputation, special feature i need to be able to buy that system? Since as i have seen it, its a must if u want to seriously go for a explorer only build...

All help is much apretiated!

PS- Got horizons already too.

You should be able to add it to any optional slot, assuming the station has it in stock it should be near the bottom of the categories of modules, something like Planetary Scanners or something similar? I cant check at the moment.

The Advanced Discovery Scanner now comes fitted as standard to all space ships. You no longer need to buy one. It is now known as the Full System Scanner or FSS. If you wish to map planets you can buy a Detailed Surface Scanner, which lets you fire probes at the planet's surface. But you can discover the planets and points of interest in a system without the DSS.

Assume you really mean the DSS (detailed surface scanner)? - should be in outfitting under surface scanners - high tech systems are your best bet. There's no rank lock or anything like that.

(just in case: the ADS no longer exists and has been replaced by the FSS which is fitted as standard to all ships).

Advanced Discovery Scanner is no more.
Every ship has Full Spectrum Scanner fitted, and Detailed Surface Scanner is an optional addition.

From yesterdays thread:

.. or check your firegroups / modules and look for the discovery scanner. ofc this is most useful in hindsight. They should have left dummy discovery scanners in outfitting and just used the default warning 'max modules' to give people a clue.

Hopefully one day soon google will return one of these threads so people can know for themselves :)

Tks guys!

As a new player one goes for the videos out there and threads about how the game goes and this game is so "big" and so much information that becomes "overload"... ;)

Now i know when i get home i will be trying out the FSS since i didnt figure even how to use the detailed surface scanner since i didnt get how to activate that. (didnt realized had to set hud change).

Will be setting up my Diamondback Explorer later on as a pure explorer ship and will be starting going out and explore to get the bucks to improve the ship to max and start to save the necessary to try other ships later on.

Great ship choice. In my measured opinion though the only problem with the DBE is that it's got great range, great looks, fantastic fun factor but has a really ridiculously small fuel scoop. (45 seconds refuel time from empty: tested pre DWE2).
The new scanner suite however really gives the DBE long legs..the fusion of the old ADS frees up a valuable slot which when combined with a class 4 FSD booster gives this little pocket rocket a 72ly range. Which is outstanding.
That fuel scoop though....stopped me taking one out on DWE2 which still saddens me :(

Engeniering... Now that is another area to dwell on in short term to really go the distance.

As of today i got the DBX fully kitted as i wanted it and doing 37 almost 38ly jump range wich is a totally diferent story to what i was doing so far...

That FSS takes a while to do, at least to me since im using a Thrustmaster X-hotas and takes a bit of pratice to shave off time spent on it, but well worth it money wise.

Got me killed for 1st time cause of a weird "bug" (will call it that), went for a planetary base, something happened and i was in the other side of the planet in a second over a restrited area and got a wanted tag and federation ships killed me cause of it, so 200k+ insurance money gone i was back in the sadle.

But already went far in the ship, using direct route its a brease now, if i could go those 70iss Ly... WOW!

Now i will dwell on another matter, costumazing the ship,(looks, paint, etc), since i got the basic controls and systems down already i can start to play a little bit more seriously.
