Advanced manoeuvres in Assist off - mode

I would like to be able to actually replicate the manoeuvres shown in the launch trailer, where one of the ships suddenly spins around, fires on the trailing ships and turns back around.

I've been trying as is, but when i disengage the assist en throttle back so i keep heading in the same direction, the ship still turns very slowly since the game thinks im not at
optimal thrust for fast turning.
My idea would be, that since the rear engines are turned off there would be more power to go to lateral thrusters, makeing the ship turn faster,
there is no atmosphere to take into account so i think it wouldnt be too far fetched to actually realise this.

keeping my hopes up :)

Being at boost speed makes you turn at max so you can boost then turn, also watch isnonia's videos (I think that's his name), he seems to be able to do those thing!

There is no reason why we shouldn't have a mode like flight assist off but with rotational adjustment still on. (I'm talking about pitch/yaw/roll counterthrust, not stations)

We need a mode that just ignores thrust vector, not makes all rotational aiming wonky.

This is possible if you do it at the tail end of an afterburn, your maneuverability is way up during your burn and a few moments after.

I agree. With flight assist off you should be able to flip around very quickly without the need for boost (which is an afterburner like function on your main drive rather than your manoeuvring thrusters). With FA off you do turn quicker but not quickly enough according to physics rules. Of course the limit will be artificial (like the yaw speed) to stop people turretting and so keep the combat mechanics more dynamic.

It can be done but, like anything else, it takes a lot of practice to get it right.

After seeing some of the nightmare results of having Newtonian Physics in space sims, I'd suggest practising in open space with a Sidewinder or in the training session where a ship loss isn't going to cost you credits. Don't, whatever you do, perform those moves you see on the video near a station until you are proficient with it. Ramming speed on a station is guaranteed to have only one result.

You don't need to be anywhere near a station but one of the more advanced combat training missions would enable you to hone those FA skills in safety.

I kind of agree but I think that is how flight assisted should be.

There should Not be the kind of flight assist we know of now in the game at all.

well actually i already bought an x52 pro from saitek and im loving it so far.....true the x55 has some more functionality but as is im still very content with the x52.

As for the other comments, i realise the "flip-around" could kill some dogfighting mechanics since everybody would constantly try to use this manoeuvre and to compromise
i would suggest the turn to be as fast as your ship would turn with assist on and the throttle in the sweet spot.
That way a standard Sidewinder would in theory still outmanoeuvre a standard Cobra Mk3.
This, i think, would make the dogfighting combat even more intense because you would need some serious skill to use this effectively each time.

thanks for your thoughts anyway:D
