The current missions feel a bit too repetitive and predictable to keep a CMDR's interest for long. They are primarily a means to earn credits.
I suggest having the missions fill more game play by having them expanded to include more random elements that pertain to the mission type.
Unique situations that make similar missions feel different each time they are taken. Even if the goal remains the same the situations between start and finish having variety.
Here is an example of the simple Data courier mission.

Distance (distance to system, Super-cruise distance)
Data security level (Classified, Secret, Top Secret)
Destination (Station/Planet base, Deep space/Planet surface rendezvous point - Ship to ship transfer)
Wing (Solo or in a wing)
Primary Goal: Deliver secure data to requested destination
Wing Goal: Escort, prevent data from being stolen or destroyed.
Primary Failure: Non delivery, Ship with data destroyed.
Potential RNG Threats
Threat: (Interdiction) by data Pirate who tries to scan the courier and steal the data.
Failure: NPC Pirate ship completes a full scan of the CMDR's ship. Data is stolen from CMDR's ship.
Prevent:
CMDR: Evading scan till High Wake, Silent running, Heat Sink Launcher should temporarily break scan.
CMDR/Wing: Can deploy ECM within range of NPC Pirate to disrupt scan
CMDR/WING: Open fire on NPC Pirate ship (Fine)
CMDR/Wing: Destroy NPC Pirate (Bounty)
CMDR/WING: Deploy limpet that hijacks NPC Pirate's scanners to malfunction for a short time.(Fine)
Threat: (Interdiction) Apposing faction tries to destroy the courier.
Failure: CMDR's ship is destroyed by NPC.
Prevent:
CMDR/WING: Destruction of apposing ship or evasion to high wake.
Threat: (Forced Low Wake) Security Checkpoint at Nav beacon that all ships are requested to fly through two beacon before proceeding into system.
Failure: complete full scan of CMDR's ship via security beacon, Data is confiscated by security.
Prevent:
CMDR: Avoiding checkpoint by High Wake (Fine) (flags CMDR ship in the system, increases chance and occurrences of Pirate/apposing faction interdiction)
CMDR: Silent Running/Heat Sink Launcher (Have to fly through a small area between the two beacons to avoid proper scan)
CMDR/WING: ECM Burst disables beacons, (Fine)
CMDR/WING: Deploy limpet that hijacks beacons to malfunction for a short time (Fine)
CMDR/WING: Destroy beacons (Bounty)
Threat: (Message) Apposing side offers to buy the data for increase in credits.
CMDR/WING: Accept,Fails current mission and starts new mission with greater pay. Prior faction places a bounty on CMDR, and adjust reputation with minor factions accordingly. Changes destination and payout.
CMDR/WING: Refuse,(increases chance and occurrences of Pirate/apposing faction interdiction)
CMDR/Wing: Mix choices
Wing: Begins new mission to Recover and deliver data. (Places WING and CMDR in PVP status)
Recover Data requires complete scan with Kill Warrant scanner, Manifest scanner or Data Link Scanner.
Or Deploy limpet that hijacks the CMDR's ship and steal the data. (Shields resist limpet attachment)
CMDR: Avoid data theft, and/or destruction and reach destination to deliver
Silent Running, Heat Sink Launcher, High Wake or Deploy limpet to hijack WING scan to malfunction for a short time.
Mix choices could see data exchanged multiple times as each try to take the data to a different destination.
Success only upon delivery to destination. If ship currently carrying data is destroyed mission fails for both.
Destruction of ship not holding mission critical data results in standard (bounty)
