Adventures Of Vindicator Jones and the Scary CombatZone

I just delivered some well needed combat supplies for good ole Zach to a more remote system, and noticed a High intensity combat zone coming in, I thought, hmmm.. lets test out my battleconda (thats what I am calling it anyway) as I had just upgraded to mostly A gear except powerplant which is B. I have 6 shield boosters and so many SCB's I thought NOTHING can touch me.. NOTHING!!!!

I entered the combat zone, decided to play it safe and head to the edge, let them start fighting amongst themselves and then picked a side. I laughed maniacally as I hit my thrusters and selected the powerplant of a nearby anaconda that was relatively isolated. My beams bore a hole clean through his shields, he was firing at me, but my shields were still 3 solid blue circles. I smirked as his powerplant melted under my assult and I cried out to the enemy.. IS THIS THE BEST YOU CAN DO! I think the universe heard me.. First it was some random enemy viper shooting at me.. BAH..I said, YOU DIE NEXT.. I started to melt his shields, and then 2 other enemies locked onto me and started to fire.. PFFTTT I thought.. FINE, BRING IT ON!!! I destroyed one viper, then another, I hit my chaff and dropped an SCB.. This somehow indicated to the ENTIRE enemy force that I was the devil incarnate and the biggest threat in the entire universe.. Suddenly all those red little dots turned into flashing white and red dots.

Suddenly my 3 bars turned to 2 and I thought, ooookkkk time to leave.. hit my scb and more chaff and boost away.. ok, sure Im going slow, but its cool, I have plenty of SCB's, I mean, they are not ALL going to follow me.. surely..

I then discovered just how wrong I could be..All those pretty flashing red and white dots seem to group up behind me, forgetting all about the other enemy targets and start to follow.. I start to panic now hitting the boost button SCB button and chaff buttons with alarming frequency.. My wife then walks in and starts to say something about lunch.. I cry out, NOT NOW WOMAN... CANT YOU SEE WE ARE IN TROUBLE HERE.. something is thrown in my general direction, but ignore it as I see my shields are on their last bar..

Frameshift is taking too long to spool up, so I start looking for a system to jump to.. select the first one.. DAMN IT.. its behind me.. select another one.. DOH.. another system behind me, I cant turn around or I will die.. Another few shots of SCB and then switch over to another bank on my power modules.. I then select another system. AH HA!! its just to my left.. start to turn.. GODDAMNIT.. its behind the planet.. Im down to my last 3 SCB charges and select the a random system from sheer panic.. my hands sweating on my joystick and I begin to pray, the irony is not lost on me as I am an atheist.. BUT GODDAMNIT, IM ROLPLAYING HERE.. MY CHARACTER DOES BELIEVE IN A GOD.. well.. so I tell myself.. then it happens.. directly in front of me locked on.. I smash the hyperspace button and dump the remaining SCB's into my shields and scream as my battleconda enters hyperspace.. I release my joystick.. and breath a sigh of relief. I enter the system with 79% hull as I took damage spooling up for hyperspace.. I head to the nearest dock and park..

I walked out to the kitchen where my wife was.. I looked at her, and I said.. we did it.. we survived.. she looked at me and said, you need help.. but all I could hear was, well done commander.. well done...

Sounds like you're having a blast in solo. Now come into open and visit the Lave sector. Warm welcomes for you in Leesti...

Heh, yeah, go to Open so you can be griefed, psycho-slaughtered, insulted, threatened in real life, hear your family threatened in real life, and various and sundry other forms of abuse. From what I understand that's the normal sort of behavior there.
Or as I like to call it "Vacationing in Iraq".

Getting on the wrong side of a CZ can be a challenge. Many hands make quick work. My Vulture has no SCB's. I always keep an eye in the door. Good luck out there commander.
