Adventurous, stalwart Commanders needed.

Progress for the sake of progress in the game seems rather hollow to me. It's all well and good working toward something and achieving personal goals, but some people seem to priorities it over their general enjoyment of the game.

For those of you that would rather just have a fun time playing the game for what it's worth and working your way up to this or that in the time between, or if indeed you find progress such as it is enjoyable, let yourselves be heard here.

There is enough conflict of interest and play styles here in the DD, in my opinion, as it is. Maybe we can forge a way to work together to enjoy the game for what it is and has to offer. Yes, a lofty goal perhaps, but some of the alternatives seem rather bleak to me.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers, and fly smartly, Commanders. o7

I like grindy games, I just can't help it!

Not sure if you're being facetious or not, but I tend to agree with you in some ways. The Dragon Warrior games for the NES were some of my favorite. I enjoy immersing myself in the setting and working my way along and through it as I choose to. The end-game, such as it is, is just something to strive for eventually, much as a river will eventually meet the sea, or evaporate. Either way, there is a lot to see and enjoy along the way, if one has the mindset for it.

Cheers.

What if i told you that there is in fact a way to achieve spiritual enlightenment without the need of religious covenants? Right now, as i speak these words, there are people working on creating a real life heaven that you and i and everyone else who wants eternal happiness will be able to experience. Right now there is a place, a bastion of Human Civilization. Where the world of tomorrow can be seen TODAY. A place where humans forget the original man and embrace the morally correct man. Turn your moral compass in the right direction. Point it towards Utopia and come and see the future.

Bro, I'm already there. I've been there for a while, a long time even in some respects, and I am looking back at my fellows, their struggle and strife, and I extend my hand to help them up out of their purgatory, the one they've largely made for themselves based on their own beliefs. I can not change their minds. All I can do is show them a different way.

you support The Simguru Antal?

The Guardians of Harmony now and then when I have my wits about me, so, yes, in a manner of speaking, though I am an independent pilot.

Well and insightful response. In all fairness, you seem to repeatedly exceed my expectations. This is a happy fault to have. :)

count me in. I acknowledge the game has some bugs, some issues here and there and some mechanics need tweaking, but I'm enjoying quite far more than suffering. Cr/h not being a concern and engineering materials not being a stopper the only real barrier is the time you can devote to the stuff you like/want to do. It is quite good IMO, well worth the pay.

Thank you sir, or madam – I think ilo, leastwise in the romance languages, is a neutral name, so forgive me here. I think there is a sufficient lack of this sort of outlook on these forums, and I am hoping we can reclaim some lost ground here to achieve a better fulfillment of the game's potential for all. Like I said, a rather lofty goal.

Hello frontier forum, I'm sb413197 and I'm a freak. I love repetitive tasks that give a sense of in-game achievement - searching for high grade emissions is exciting for me and feels like an easter egg hunt, doing surface scans is great fun, exploration is immersive and builds a real atmosphere. I doubt I would have 20 G5-engineered ships (pre-3.0) if I didn't feel like this - I refuse to do things that I don't find fun - the minute I start to feel like that in this game I switch to doing something else, even if it doesn't make the most sense (i.e. I haven't been able to bring myself to do the gold rushes except for a bit of Quince back in the day...but I'm rich from exploration and other stuff so it doesn't really matter!)

Just so. I go exploring for the sake of exploring such as it is, in a fully combat loaded Vulture, which is entirely quite capable at it and has served me very well over the past two years – see the second post in the top link in my signature. Each system I visit has a new potential and outcome; it is very much a treasure hunt, and it keeps me going and striving for more out in the black, and as of now, I've visited the majority of the known nebulae in this quadrant of the galaxy in it. I've also taken on and killed more would-be trouble makers than could be counted with digits available to typical humans, unless we're using binary to count, or similar.

Speaking of which, if anyone would like to know how to count in binary on their fingers, let me know. It can come in handy sometimes. ;)

00000 00000 = 0

00000 00001 = 1

00000 00010 = 2

00000 00011 = 3

And so on.

4 can be a bit... controversial in some settings.

I'm, call me crazy (he, by the way), making a study on the Asp Scout, on my own.. including how FD uses it in the game, different loadouts I've seen (by FD), the internals layout of the ship and some other goodies I'll soon be able to publicate. This ship is unloved because it doesn't fit in the category of 'better ship for anything', but indeed it is a 'very good ship for everything'. I hope I'll get some traction for other commanders to it.

Here is one example of my notes:

This way I know where I'm shooting without having to target internals (found the different slot locations with images of targeted modules in every one of them), helps my find out how the ship could be internally (which gives me a bit more depth in the ship history, and maybe, one day, space legs..) and basically helps me finding the weakpoints of it (which I've already done).

I did the same for the cobra mk3, but I finally focused on this little one because of personal preference.

Above and beyond, mate. Could not hope for more, really. This is the sort of in-depth approach to things that I think players are lacking in general here. Well done. o7

Did somebody put something in the water?

This thread is about putting something in the water.

You want to just swim upstream and have your head eaten by a bear fattening up for the winter? Well, at least you're contributing to that. :p

I'd never join a group that I would meet the criteria for but I don't really understand the requirement here so I guess I'm in if you'll have me ;)

My only issue with the game atm is that there isn't enough of it (LEP owner) :D

I'm currently tidying up the factions in my home system, they went to pot after I left them to the skimmer killing hoards for 18 months while I took a grand tour of the galaxy in an armed & armoured Corvette.

I don't do grind, but I do put the effort in to achieve big goals, both the established game ones (I'm triple Elite) and personal. When I did my final Elite rank I took a 3 month break because I was a little burned out (built a minecraft world with my son & needless to say I achieved all the goals in that too).

So, what do you want me to do? ;)

Let me know if you want me to PM you one of my main vanilla hard core Minecraft servers, aptly named Maelstrom, since I've made a machine in it to make it thunderstorm all the time.

That's getting a bit off topic here though in general.

a huge Owl once landed on my helmet at like 3 in the morning in Iraq and I tried to wake up my battle buddy with my foot while staying still and the owl flew away and when I woke him up and told him what happened he called me a liar and told me not to wake him up just because I’m bored. Also I accidentally punched myself in the mouth yesterday and bled for a about 40 seconds.
