Advice for mining...

Hi

I am planning on trying out mining. I have not done any since the "gold rush" back in Beta.

Last week whilst on my deep space exploration I have found a number of pristine metal rich rings which were "undiscovered"

IIRC I also found 1 "metallic" ring. (either that or I just wrote it down wrong in my notes)

Am i right in saying the metallic is most likely the one to be most profitable?

is there any knack to identifying a "good" ring over a not so good one, or is it just a matter of sucking and seeing all pristine metal rich rings?


PS is the balance for mining the same as beta, ie should i be looking for 30%+ pieces of ore before I settle down?

Yes, this is where you can find palladium and platinum which bring in the big bucks.

Not that I know of. Once you're inside the ring, it's all procedurally generated from there. If you can find a pattern for better asteroids, let us know - I myself never found one.

Depends on the mineral. I wouldn't bother with 30% uraninite for example. 30% gold on the other hand is a keeper.
