Advice in regards to Planet Zoo on a particular laptop

My apologies for asking this but I have absolutely no idea about laptops or games for that matter... my son would love to play Planet Zoo but our current laptop is not suitable for it...
he is only 11 so we don’t really want to spend a fortune on a new one...
Can someone please tell me if the following laptop would be ok for him?

From the Frontier Store page for Planet Zoo product:

System Requirements
Minimum:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 7 (SP1+) / 8.1/10 64bit
  • Processor: Intel i5-2500 / AMD FX-6350
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 (2GB) / AMD Radeon R9 270X (2GB)
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 16 GB available space

with those specs the game would not run.. the cpu is way below the minimum requirements and it probably only has an integrated gpu, so that will not work either..

Hi, unless space is short, your son would get a much better experience playing the game with a basic gaming desktop PC. With laptops you pay a premium for the size advantage. I'm not sure where you are based, but for example the UK Ebay has this PC bundle which would run Planet Zoo pretty well. It's not going to break any records, but it's a lot more powerful than the laptop you quoted and would run most modern games at perhaps medium settings, although of course this varies depending on the game.

Naturally the more you spend you usually get a more powerful machine, but for your son I'm pretty sure this example would do the job for less than £400 which is pretty reasonable. Not forgetting of course you have a fully capable destop PC for all other uses. If you don't live in the UK then your local Ebay would have similar PCs.

Try to get this number:

(up to 2.40GHz)

As high as possible. Single core speed is important.
