Advice needed for Rift S

I am thinking about getting a Rift S I was wondering how much I will need to upgrade my PC. I know I need a new Video Card (I would appreciate recommendations on that).

My current PC is
Core i7-4770K Haswell Quad-Core 3.5 GHz LGA 1150 84W BX80646I74770K
16GB RAM
GeForce GTX 760 4gb
GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-UD5H

Should I be able to get by with just upgraded Video or do I need to gut it and start over?

How much do you want to spend?
Just buy the best you can afford really.
Re graphics card I guess any of the new RTX cards would be fine however a secondhand 1080ti would be fine too if you have a budget.
CPU I would just max it out to whatever your motherboard will take.

FYI I'm only running i7-6700 and 1080 and the CV1 works fine but I'm thinking of upgrading the graphics card if I go to the next generation of HMD

I agree, i'm running a much lower processor (i5 3570k) - 16gb ram and a GTX1080 and ED on the Rift S running at 0.75/2.0 with a lot of the shiny stuff switched to high and it runs surprisingly well, very little glitchiness and I would say that in most cases it performs better than my CV1 did on the same machine.

@OP - I would suggest upgrading your GPU first with your existing CPU setup and see how it fairs. Sure, you could upgrade everything, but I suspect you may not need to, I've been surprised that my rig has performed and lasted as well as it has. Although I hope to build a new machine late this year/early next in prep for the new amazing features, feet and atmo landings, that FD will be bringing to the game late next year! :p

I am using an i7 4770K as well and a 1080 ti in combination with the Rift-S and i am running Elite on ultra settings. With ASW on, i get pretty decent framerates throughout, so yes... upgrading the GPU will throw you in the game.

Hi c48113

Everything you have is fine Except for the video card, You really should look at upgrading that...1060 or higher will be fine. Even a 1050 will do the job but 1060 is the best place to start. The only other thing you have to watch out for is your USB 3.0 ports..Some work some don't..If you run this Utility from Oculus it will tell you what you need to upgrade...Here is the

The gpu isn’t good enough, cpu is a maybe/probably.
If you’re wanting to use a xx60 level card, I think the 1660 should be considered instead of 1060.
I’m playing on a 1660ti and it’s good for medium settings and slight super sample. (0.65/2.0)
