Advice on earning credits?

So I've been playing for a bit and have gotten the hang of flying my sidewinder

Making money seems slow to me. Finding bounties is slow due to other players hunting and due to the fact that the base sidewinder loadout takes awhile to kill anything

I've been more successful with lucky courier missions.

Any advice? I have $50k but over a 2 hr session I am maybe earning 15k or so.

well, can't really give a solution for that, but at your stage I already bought a Hauler, max fitted it with cargo and jumprange, and started to do cargo-missions between nearest station... I went throught he bubble to find 2 good stations, in terms of mutual missions, and found one. So I made up some money through that shield-less Hauler :D

As I say to my wife who's always using a cheat code to earn fast money in the SIMS series: stop cheating, you're ruining your game-life-time... everyone want's everything fast: it's a game-killer. (IMHO)

i'm sure i'll regret posting this, goodbye mineral stocks.

go to Arcturus and do in-system mineral runs between the fort trade station and singh orbiter

with 4 slots you can make 20k profit a run of palladium or 10k for like silver and stuff.

process

> jump to arcturus
> go to the fort (i forget it's name) and see what resources they have, check the bulletin board.
> Supercruise 10k LS to singh
> go to singh orbiter, and the other two stations nearby. check their bulletin boards these will often give you up to 5-6 "collect minerals for refinery" missions, all paying 15-88k.
> with your missions for minerals warp out of the system
> warp back into the system and go to fort (harrison? or something)
> buy the minerals for the most expensive contract from market there
> supercruise back to singh
> rinse+repeat

basicly, look for systems with lots of stations (there are a few around) and do the high paying contracts that you can do with minimal travel/warp

in a 2hr session i usually get sidetracked and warp off somewhere crazy to explore

hmmmm... once you got a Lakon-T6, equiped with 100CARGO space, I can give you 2 stations where you buy and sell with a profit per load (one jump away) of 100+k :D

It's slow in the beginning as you don't have much to work with and if you're new to the game it can be difficult to make money through combat as you don't have a whole lot of practice yet.

One of the easiest ways to earn a steady stream of money is through bulletin board missions, although with Beta 3 the reward amount for each that aren't hauling missions have been greatly reduced as the developers want us to focus on testing mining in this phase. Nevertheless, you can still make decent money from them.

That being said, mining is a great way to earn money and can be done in the starter Sidewinder without too much of an investment. All you need is a mining laser, refinery, and a spot to mine in. There are quite a few introductory guides to mining in this forum to get you started if you want to go that route but just keep in mind that you want to look for systems that show as being "metal rich" or "pristine." That info can be found in the top left of the system map for each system.

Try and get enough to buy a hauler and then you can earn quicker. You may want to go back and spec up a sidewinder later, but you need to find a few stations that want what each other are selling, and then you should find some missions that bring you in more dosh as well.|

I used to spend time round Aulin, I-Bootis, Eranin, Asselus Primus, Rakapila and LP 98-132 and started making enough money to advance.

Wyrd and BD+47 2112 also improved things, if you have the range, a hauler will.

Best of Luck

Well, if you will buy another 2 ton cargo hold in place of you discovery scanner, you can take much more delivery missions. It worked like a charm in my startwinder.
