I've been involved in fighting Interceptors a few times with some success and in various ships, although I'm nowhere near expert. One thing I've never tried is deploying a SLF against either the Interceptor or the Swarm. Any advice on how a fighter is best used and which is the best fighter to choose?

It's a while since I've fought interceptors, but I found fighters useful only for distracting the swarm. They're too squishy to do anything else.
Fighters against the interceptor get intercepted.
Fighters against the swarm suffer from trying to attack it, so the fastest most experienced npc the better.
I am lazy these days and don't load in my imperial fighters (which are the fastest), I use those guardian things and they get splatted fairly quick. Using a rogue, I launch and send it to the swarm once and can just about forget about it.

The gaurdian fighters are far too weak to be of any real use when fighting interceptors. Against scouts they dont really last that long either, that said, i use a Lance and an AX Taipan. The taipan lasts a fair bit longer in a fight than any other gaurdian fighter however the Gaurdian fighters do more damage.
