Advice on Hera Tani and her 50 units of Kamitra Cigars..

So I'm in Kamitra and just picked up 8 Cigs.

Can I get more elseware? I cant seem to locate any given my google search.

Do really have to do 8 at a time and wait for re-spawn?

This would take like 3 days...

Shortcut?

Thanks all!

Resets every 10 minutes, if you have all she is going to give the quantity is blank is you can get more upon reset there will be a zero instead. This is the same for all rares.

As with all rares the item can only be retrieved from that particular location. Deliver what you can get and there will be more when you return.

It won't take three days but they are a rare good which means that once you've bought the maximum allocation you can't get any more whilst you have them on board.

I can't remember what the allocation is for those cigars but it's more than eight. System state can affect the availability of rares so if the system is in boom the allocation goes up and in some other states it goes down but I'm sure it's 20+. Buy what's there when you land then wait for the next refresh which is usually about 10 minutes, see if any more have appeared. If not, you're at the maximum allocation with however many you have.

However as soon as you sell them (well donate them to Hera in this case) and return, the allocation will be available to buy again.

That's pretty much it. A small, fast ship with good jump range helps speed things along. I tend to use a Courier for, well, couriering things.

There is a proper shortcut if you have a second player handy. One person sits outside the station's no fire zone in a ship with collector limpets, then somebody else in a fast ship (Courier says hi again) buys rares and abandons them for the first player to pick up, repeat as necessary.

No, once you see the blank space your ship is at station limit. You could transfer to another account to hold is you go back into the station and gather every ten minutes. Make sure you are good friends ;)

There is a maximum allocation per player, and it is different for each rare commodity. Usually you reach maximum allocation in 2 or 3 batches, you have to wait 10 minutes between them (or run a mission to a nearby system and back).

Availability of rares increases A LOT when the system is in boom state, I remember buying around 20-30 tons of cigars at a time when Kamitra was in boom.

Don't forget next up is Broo Tarquin who will ask you to bring Fujin Tea which spawns 5 at a time [big grin]

Shortcut is to have a friend grab the cargo and give it all to you outside the star port so it only takes an hour and a half rather than 7 or 8 hours.

When thinking of trading any rare goods, including getting them for engineers, you should always check the state of the controlling faction before you go there. If the faction is in boom, go there as fast as you can as you may get more than the normal allocation. If it's in "none" state you will get the normal allocation, which may be just 1 or 2 units every ten minutes. If the state is anything else, don't bother going as the amount will be reduced - or even no market if lockdown. The devs think this is dynamic and interesting; what I think isn't allowed to be said on the forum.

I really hate how they made the rarity system.

- Instead of allocating a maximum per cargo hold let the availability on the market each 10 minutes fluctuate AND affect ALL outposts and stations in a system.

This way we might instead have to fly to each station in the system and try to pick up those few items available on the market instead of this illogical maximum amount per player.

I did this chore last week, the initial spawn for me was 15 which made me think it was going to be easy. After that they spawned in lots of 5 so I switched to my 45ly AspX and set to work. Whoever suggested this would be engaging gameplay should be fired.

Plenty of people enjoy rare trading, via looping routes.

Sometimes it's a very profitable way of making money, and it is more accessible and often more stimulating than bulk ABA trading. It might not be *your* idea fun, but for some, it is.

how does that behave at all? I remember that iw as able to buy those cigars in stacks of 24 each run I made.

But the Fujin tea was only 5t each, so 10 runs, or I wait for soem time to get the respawn and cargo 10 at all.

but generally a pointless task of forth and back jumping. Gladly I never sold my robigo asp.

Does anyone know if the get rares, fly outside illegal dump zone, wait 10 minutes, request docking, dump rares, dock, collect new allocation of rares, un-dock, zoom out and collect dumped rares trick still works?

You need a collector controller and some limpets and the rares will only last in space for a short time so you'd probably only get 16 tons per run instead of 8 but it could speed things up if it still works.

Limpets ignore dropped commodities since 2.2 unless they changed it again in one of the 2.2.x updates. I haven't actually tried it since then but as far as I know it's not an option now.

Get a friend to hover outside the station with at least 100 cargo free.

Go in,
get the rares,
zip out,
dump the goods,
they collect it,
you go back in for more.

Rinse and repeat until they have 100 units.
They dump 5-6 at a time, you collect with limpets (or scoop) until you have 50 then you both head for the engineer base.

I happened to knock this out while Kamitra was in a Boom state, and was able to pick these up 45 at a time.
You could also co-op with another commander to pick these up and drop them for you, so as not to have to play race-the-item-durability.
