Advice please

Hi

I don't get the play very often and I'm a bit out of the loop with updates etc. I left the populated bubble a few days after the update that introduced the various factions and I haven't been back since so I've missed all of the planetary landing and engineering advances. I've wandered pretty aimlessly around the galaxy but I am trying to get back to safety before my ship falls apart completely.

Due to my clumsiness my ship is quite badly damaged and with NPC's having the benefit of engineering upgrades I'm nervous about heading back into populated space.

I came back to the forums in the hope of finding a "safe" system on the edge of civilisation and I've discovered that I'm less than 4 thousand light years from some populated systems out in the black. Something to do with Colonia?

Does anyone know:
-Do you need a permit for these systems?
-Do they have repair facilities?
-Are they secure or is there much piracy?
-Do they buy cartographic data?
-Can you buy ship parts?

As I said I'm in no fit state to fight, I'm low on credits and I'm not sure I remember how to deal with other ships or even how to land. Is this an easy and safe place to get to?

Thanks in advance.

Head to Jaques station in Colonia.
- No permit (anywhere in that area)
- yes repairs
- I went in under Fleetcomm private group, didn't see a single NPC
- yes they have UC
- yes there are parts, but it's a bit limited

If you in open there's a chance of some dill sitting around waiting to pick off the defenseless. just go private group or solo and you'll be fine. ditch any cargo you have to be totally sure.

If you understand discord (I don't) then you should be able to ask for an escort if you're really worried

That is excellent news. You just made my week. I think I might be able to get there by the weekend.

I have no cargo. Just exploration data.

Yes, Jaques station in Colonia is the place to go to for a safe return journey without hassle from NPC's. I regularly visit Jaques & have yet to see any NPC's in SC. Those around the station aren't interested in you anyway. There are other stations in surrounding systems (9 of them) but these DO have NPC's that will hassle you, so don't go to those stations. Also there is a 'bridge' of remote stations stretching from the bubble to Colonia, but reports are that NPC's hassle cmdr's in these systems.
Make sure you are in solo mode - to avoid any of the gankers that fester around places like this.

I'll be returning to Jaques later today, I'll post to confirm that nothing in-system has changed.

I am currently at Polo Harbour after setting out from Colonia, I have been here for a few days and haven't been hassled by any NPC's so far. Sold all my data at Polo, it has repair facility but not a shipyard or parts. Depending on where the OP is if it's mainly data sale and repair one of the way stations may be closer, there's a list of them somewhere in the exploration forum.

If you didn't buy the Horizons expansion, you can only land at Jaques, the only space station out there. Everywhere else, including the supply bases between Colonia and the bubble, are planetary outposts.

That said:
- no permits
- pretty safe
- repair/restock available
- cartographics available
- ship parts rather limited. Some basic stuff and mostly everything you need for mining

Your financial problems will probably disappear once you've sold your data.

If you need an escort, contact the CCN militia via discord.

Maybe so! but my point is that when these stations came online there were forum posters saying that they had been interdicted in some of the systems where these station had been placed.

Personally I wouldn't go near them but that's my opinion & if the OP wishes to take this risk, small though it may be, then it's up to that player.

BTW evyl minkey, I have just landed at Jaques Station in Colonia & can confirm that there is still NO NPC traffic in SC between the Star & Jaques. I only saw NPC player right outside the station in the no fire zone & these are not interested in any aggression while the Police are patrolling.

So to be safe it's Jaques! just don't go in open!!

Thanks guys. I do have horizons but since this will be my first visit to a station since that update I don't think I have the required kit to land on a planet. Even if it is possible I don't want to be trying something completely new at this stage. Thanks for the warning about the other systems, I was heading to one of them as it was closer but I'll aim for Jaques now.

If I don't crash and I get my repairs done I might check out those supply stations on the way back to the bubble. Or I'll get distracted and wander off again.

Yes an update, you are quite correct. After spending a few days in and around Polo Harbour I finally got interdicted by an NPC without dropping into a USS or anything like that. Empty Cobra, no data, he just wanted something I had, I am guessing a liver or maybe a kidney that he would pull out of my cold dead corpse after blasting me. Oh well, yes OP, take care even at the connections stations.

And no he didn't get the liver or kidney, after sparring with him for five minute and showing him who was boss with my Cobra's 4 multi cannons system security turned up and spoiled the party and he went BOOM! Yes this is my heavily armed and armoured exploracobra that I had shipped out to replace my unarmed explorapython that I used to fly to Jaques way back, sucks to be him!

Take an hour or two and practice docking / leaving the station in the tutorial deal.
I will be doing that till I'm comfortable with it.
after 18 months in the black how great would it be to just blow it cause you forgot how to land properly.
it would be soul crushing to say the least.

A month ago, when I was last in Colonia, the only NPCs I saw were in the rings. Just fly straight to Jaques and you should be safe. Docking practice is a very good idea.

Welcome to your new favorite home town! Colonia represents a fresh start for humanity. You might want to hang around a while, purchase a T6 and some mining equipment, and visit one of the nearby systems with pristine metallic rings. You'll get your balance up in no time!
