General / Off-Topic Advice required: Glue for glass?

Bit of a wild stab but the ED user-base is an eclectic group and somebody might be able to help...

Our oven door fascia has a toughened-glass panel with a metal surround glued to it.
That assembly attaches to the door, itself, via 4 self-tapping screws.

Trouble is, the glue starts to fail after a year or so and then the metal surround comes away from the glass, which means the glass panel could just drop out of the door.

I resolved to fix this permanently last year.
I went to a DIY shop and they offered me a roll of "heavy duty double-sided tape" (A bit like double-sided duct tape) which they assured me would work.
I was dubious at the time but it seemed like an easy fix so I went for it.
I stripped the door down, removed the old glue, degreased it all, applied the tape and reassembled it.

And now, a year later, the metal surround is hanging off again, [sad]

So, anybody have any experience with gluing stuff to glass?

Anybody have any suggestions for something that WILL stick the metal surround to the glass, permanently?

I was thinking of something like JB-Weld but I'm not sure if it's flexible enough.
Being an oven door, and going through constant heat-cycles, I wonder if the adhesive needs to be flexible in order to work well?
Perhaps some kind of silicone sealant would be better?

Some type of epoxy would work best. I'd recommend having a word with a kitchen fitter for tips.

JB Weld should do the job, but dont take that as 100%.

Silicone RTV is the answer it has great grab and hold,I use it to seal exhaust joints all the time.
Has never failed, and you prob will never have to renew it.

The stuff they use for gluing the rope in a wood burners doors and lids.

If you are looking at making a good seal with the screws as well. Get yourself some of the rope as well. Measure and cut to size and fix the rope with said glue to the door first. Let it set and then apply more glue and fit the glass. Let the screws clamp it all together. Heat makes the glue harder.

However: Slamming the door shut, will crack the glue in time.
