Advocate for an attempt at a Diplomatic Solution to the thargoid situation

My proposal is simple.

Attempts in the form of CGs to research and develop communications devices to open channels of contact with the Thargoids. My reasons are simple.

1. We do not know their intentions and if in the process of failing to arrange peace we may find out their intentions.

2. The Thargoids are not the only race to exist beyond Humanity. It would set an example to any other species we come across that we attempted contact, not to mention we may need help in future.

3. We cannot defeat them without escalation of our technologies, we do not know to what extent our capabilities match theirs. Neither do we know how far their innovation might stretch. Would it not be better to join them in innovation than compete with them if it is at all possible.

4. War should be the last alternative.

I welcome constructive thoughts

I don't fire unless fired upon... but I see no signs that the Thargoids take us seriously enough to bother negotiating with us, and suspect we're going to have to show them that we can't be so lightly dismissed before the thought of talking to us ever crosses their minds... however many or few per capita they may have.

Good post OP.

Totally support your initiative. But, how do we communicate/negotiate with them?

The Thargoids show little sign of being willing to communicate. We may need to show that we won't go down without a fight in order to force them to the negotiating table.

Since any attempt at development of new technology is largely out of our control my suggestion of a CG to have an engineer create or attempt to create a translator or a multi-layered interpretable message as an openning of dialogue. We have interpreted the Guardian signals theres no reason to believe the Thargoids could not at the very least be intriged by a partially decoded message from us.

Only good bug is a dead bug.

Would you like to know more?

I like it! While our scientists are trying to figure that out, I will continue engineering my ship.

The only sane thing to do.

I also support this initiative.

The Thargoids show little sign of being willing to communicate.

They communicate roughly in several distinct modes:

When they go green, it's "go about your business."

When they go blue... not sure yet.

Red is definitly a warning/rage.

Then there's the scanning-honk.

When we back off, the recognize this and stand down most of the time.

So they are communicating to us, albeit on a very simple level... perhaps this is the only level they can communicate with us at present.

One sided conversations aren't conversations at all.

+1

As a proud member of the FLC all venues of understanding, and patience must be exhausted before a full scale declaration of war is issued. We can ill afford another Klenda-- I mean Pleiades Sector IR-W D1-55!

Edit: If you havent yet OP I would post this in the CG section of the forums.

We need to form a committee first

What shape should we make the table ? We need a committee to decide this also

They are also abducting humans by salvaging all escape pods from wreckage sites. They also snap up any slaves/imperial slaves jettisoned by callous commanders.

Further, based on information in the books "Out of Darkness" and "Premonition", I think we need to show them we're capable of fighting back before they'll even consider dialogue with us.

On the bright side, they know we don't act as a collective, so individual commanders shooting them down won't be held against all of us (from "Premonition").

Ahhhhh! The Klingon approach 😂😂😂
