Aegis have just realised that the Thargoids are targeting their laboratories

Analytical reports released by Aegis have confirmed a pattern to the Thargoids’ recent starport attacks, which have left thousands dead and infrastructures crippled.

Admiral Aden Tanner, Aegis’s chief military liaison, made this statement:

“We have identified that the Thargoids are specifically targeting starports where Aegis laboratories are established. These include Titan's Daughter in the Taygeta system, Liman Legacy in HIP 16753 and the Oracle in the Pleiades Sector IR-W D1-55.”

“In conjunction with local security services and system authorities, we are increasing defensive measures at all starports where Aegis has a presence.”

Professor Alba Tesreau, the organisation’s chief scientific advisor, voiced additional concerns:

“Aegis research centres were set up to increase our understanding of the Thargoids, so it’s clear they’re attempting to prevent us investigating their technology and artefacts. Naturally we’ll take precautions, but I can only wonder what a long-term solution might be. Will we have to establish laboratories in secret locations, such as bunkers or asteroids? Aegis’s work is critical – only through knowledge might we establish a real relationship with this species.”

Well done, Admiral, well done. The rest of the Galaxy knew this several months ago. [weird]

Aegis is to thargoids what engineers would be to us if they only gave mods to griefers. It makes sense why thargoids don't like them.

Except it isn't fully true anymore. 49 Arietis was attacked last week, it's one of my old smuggling spots. It's doesn't have an Aegis presence nor has it ever had one

As far as you are aware.
Things may not be as they appear...
Or... Things may be exactly as they seem and aegis really are that rubbish.
Tinfoil hats all round! :D

Suspecting that AEGIS is an INRA like conspiracy hub lying to everyone doesn't require any tinfoil at all. :D

And now they have an excuse to establish secret laboratories. Though when they put Thargoid Sensors into them to play around with, there won't be much secret about it, at least in regards to Thargoids. Back to INRA tier covert ops.

Ooh arent they quick? Nothing gets past them oh no...

Letting the thargoids have them is actually doing our species a favor if thats the best they can come up with ^

Well, they say "confirmed" and "identified" but no mention when they did or what their response was. They just released a statement at a time where the pattern cannot be denied/ignored anymore and became obvious to the general public. Maybe there wasn't anything in those laboratories other than beeping Thargoid Sensors telling them to come over and have a look. Easy way to manufacture "attacks" to get the war trumpets blowing and keep the money flowing. Now with talk of "secret laboratories" that were probably already established months/years ago.

This makes me question Admiral Tanner's job background. Just exactly what was he an admiral of before Aegis? Supply corps? Medical staff? There's no way he could be a line officer being that swift on the uptake. I can just imagine how the conversation that led to his appointment went:

"Sir, Aegis is requesting a military liaison of flag rank."

"Fine, who do we have?"

"Aden Tanner, sir. He's currently without a command pending the results of the...investigation."

"Fine, fine, throw him in there."

"Sir, you are aware that placing a flag officer in such a position is a career ender for them?"

"Yes, I am aware. I don't want him in charge of a naval fleet ever again. Carry on."

"Aye, sir."

Oh, so the bugs finally woke INRAEGIS up ? Sorry guys, I'd totally fly there to give a hand but since YOU are the bad guys, I'll pass and eat some popcorn while you burn. Regards.

Oh good lord, Aden Tanner was Chief of Federal Security, which confirms what I suspected: They sent an idiot to Aegis so he wouldn't be accidentally put in charge of a naval fleet.

Later, we find out, after a failed assassination attempt, that Tanner is actually an Imperial Agent - but wait, there's more, after tracking down a few dozen data points scattered across the rear-end of the galaxy, we find out he is actually a double agent, working for the Alliance, no, wait, there's more... he's actually a agent of The Club, working for the Alliance, as an agent in the Empire, as an Agent of the Federation, working to actually spy on Aegis, to make sure that no connection to INRA is ever actually found.

And this is Why I don't write for Elite. That, and I don't get paid to write for Elite.

Tanner is a Thargoid Agent.

Either that, or he's busy chatting up the young and attractive female Ensigns to care too much about stopping Thargoids.
