AFKing in a completed instance is griefing

Seriously, this has been a plague to bugged ground instances and completed instances alike. We need the ability to reset our instance to get around AFK players, or they need to be dealt with. Waiting twenty minutes in orbit every time somebody decides to take a nap is going to drive me space crazy. It's really sucking the fun out of what is otherwise a banging good time smashing 'Goids with a gang of fully decked out death machines. Finally we have a gold rush that's both fair, and not mind-numbingly boring, and this one flaw is singularly standing in my way of enjoying it.

Ya aint seen griefing yet if afk is griefin for ya. Besides, I find very inappropriate to call those who afk that they are "griefing", but since your feeles are hurt by that, you probly are thinkin that U are entiltled for landing pad alone and no one else should, something along these lines.

Seems you are not very familiar with how instancing works, if you are unaware of simple tricks how to deal with afk players.
There is few, and not even needed is to relog to solo/private. I say, learn about instancing a bit, cuz if you would did, you would never post that nonsense otherwise.

Hey, you could have actually spent all that time typing actually replying with something productive, like what the heck you're talking about instead of telling me to "go learn". That's literally what forums are for. Getting information.

No, I don't feel entitled to pads, I feel entitled to playing the game instead of sitting and waiting for twenty or thirty minutes. In order to reset a open instance of a completed ground based Thargoid CZ, everybody has to leave it. If they don't, it just stays empty. I wish blocking worked for me, but it hasn't thus far. I don't know about you, but I work for a living and my time is limited, and so having thirty minutes of my game time chewed up represents a substantial chunk of it, especially when it happens every other round of combat.

Reporting is basically the only thing that does work, and I frankly don't like the idea of punishing them harshly for something so simple that it should just be programmed in as a simple button or switch flip. But hey, maybe that's just me feeling "entitled".

What Mr helpful missed telling you is that sometimes if they, or you, have a friend in that instance you’ll get put right back into it. So you may need to block other players still hanging around. But yes. It can be a complete PITA to get another instance in open mode. Call out in system chat for a wing invite if you get stuck. You will almost always instance with a wingmate over randoms.

That explains alot. Any advice for me if I happen to be running a wing? Also, thanks for being cordial. I haven't done combat in open in years; it had become boring at a certain point (heat beam meta). I really enjoy this whole Thargoid business. I hope we don't kill them all too quickly. We gotta slam this gold rush while it lasts before the inflation kicks in!

Joking aside, I feel like this has brought a lot of old players back into the game, and it's been a whole lotta fun just being in the background, organizing attack initiatives and setting up bold alliances with former enemies. For the first time ever, I didn't shoot at the Hudson guy in the instance for being in Imperial space; he's out here with his bling'n Vette melting 'Goids right along side Alliance and Imperial ships and players taking on Empire Coalition system targets. It's really something to see the community come together.

Griefing is a way stronger word than I'd use but yes, it's frustrating & inconsiderate but usually done out of ignorance rather than malice. Usually ;)

Be patient, or switch to a private group. If this were real you wouldn't be able to refresh an instance or switch to a parallel universe to park in a slot that's currently occupied, you'd just have to deal with it or go elsewhere. At least the game gives you workarounds :)

Well. One option would be to take the wing to a PG session. Create one and invite the others to it. That would eliminate the randoms and if the wing is decent it will be able to handle the CZ on its own. Another option is I believe to get into the AXI private group. I think they have one as well so you might meet more people that way and have a more lively CZ. Staying in open means that you would all need to agree to block the sleepy CMDR so that you don't have one of you drop back into the instance that didn't block them and then suck the rest of you into it with them. Personally the blocking gets old so if the instances are messed up I go to PG or find another CZ to fight in.
