African Dream/Nightmare DLC

I don't think we'll have any other gorilla even in nightmare expectation. All but one gorillas in captivity are Gorilla gorilla gorilla.

I don't have much of a dream/nightmare thing, yet do have a list for African DLC.

1. Black/white rhino
Judging by base game signs, I'd say black rhinoceros would have more possibility, but we can't be sure.
2. Fennec fox
Hey, it's canid with some uniqueness.
3. Olive baboon
Well, hamadryas would be good too. But for African theme, Papio anubis suits better.
4. Meerkat
Agile, curious, and unique.
5. Crested porcupine
This would be a step for some big rodents.
6. Fossa
Another variety adding animal.
7. African penguin
Well, they are more common in captivity.

Assuming new moving mechanisms(flying, brachiating) would not be added soon, these are my guess.

Dream:
1.) Shoebill Stork
2.) White or Black Rhino
3.) Meerkat
4.) Southern Ground Hornbill
5.) Secretary Bird
6.) Serval
7.) Greater Kudu
Exhibit:
1.) Gaboon Viper
2.) Black Mamba
3.) African Fire Skink
4.) Any African chameleon species

Nightmare:
Reskinned Subspecies of animals already in the game.

Taking the idea from the thread @Bearcat9948 did for the Asian animals release, because I actually found it fun - thanks to them for coming up with the theme. At this point primarly flying birds have not been confirmed to be in the game so we would want to leave those out, however birds that are more terrestrial or wading would be acceptable (even if in the real world they can fly). I'm not too concerned about the exhibit animal but feel free to add them in if you'd like.

African Dream DLC

Meerkat
White Rhino (either subspecies)
Red River Hog
Crested Porcupine
Marabou Stork
Fennec Fox
Cape African Penguin
Black Backed Jackal

African Nightmare DLC

Masai Giraffe
2nd Subspecies of Lion - if ANY African feline is added it'd better the leopard before anything else!
Impala
Olive Baboon
2nd Subspecies of Zebra
Hartbeest
Gerenuk (3rd antelope! why not in a nightmare situation)

aka: No Meerkat. No Rhino. More and more and more antelopes.

I definitely would not call antelopes a nightmare situation, but I like your first pack much better obviously, I do not think we need another giraffe, lion, zebra, etc. However, I would love a Giant Eland (largest antelope in Africa) a Greater Kudu (one of the most majestic antelope species in the entire African continent) a Scimitar Horned Oryx (very unique and different than anything else we have in game coloration wise) A baboon would be awesome as well, I would prefer the Hamadryas Baboon over the Olive Baboon, but in any case, there no Baboons in the game, so I will take anything they give.

I could be wrong, but it seems the SE Asia pack has no new rigs... which may imply similar DLC packs would also have no new rigs... so we may assume an African Animal Pack wouldn't contain anything particularly new, like the Porcupine, Meerkat, or maybe the Fennec Fox... taking this into account, I suppose the closest thing to a realistic dream pack would be:

[]African Leopard[]
Not my personal choice--we have plenty of big cats--but it is in huge demand and that alone will probably get it in.
[]African Penguin[]
The most common species of penguin in zoos; if they add another penguin, this one would make plenty of sense.
[]Baboon[]
I see a lot of demand for one of these too. Plenty of people ask for the Olive Baboon, but personally I think they're dull looking; I'd much prefer the Hamadryas Baboon and its Dr. Brown hair.
[]Coquerel's Sifaka[]
I suppose I should toss in a Madagascar representative and this colorful lemur would certainly make a nice addition.
[]Hyena[]
Three plausible choices to go, in my personal order of preference: Aardwolf, Brown Hyena, Striped Hyena.
[]Red River Hog[]
Also not my personal choice, but again a lot of people want this one.
[]Rhinoceros[]
A super obvious addition that surprisingly wasn't added from the start. Some people say Black, others White... I'm a White Rhino fan myself; they're the biggest living rhino, giving them better visual appeal.

So yeah... not exactly my dream list... that would be more like:

[]Aardwolf[]
My top pick for a new hyena, as said above.
[]African Crested Porcupine[]
As said above, I have doubts due to rig needs... but this is the ideal list, so whatever.
[]Caracal[]
My favorite of the smaller cats; love those ear tufts.
[]Hamadryas Baboon[]
My personal pick for a baboon species.
[]Honey Badger[]
It just don't care...
[]Northern Gerenuk[]
I just love those goofy, long-necked gazelle!
[]Southern White Rhino[]
The biggest of all living rhinos.

To be honest, there is not many more iconic animals that would require new rig in SEA (there are some, but they are not as iconic), except gibbon of course, but those were probably not added due to no brachiation.

True, but until proven otherwise I'll work under the assumption that the lack of new rigs was done on purpose...

I’m counting in madagascar

Dream:

  • Fossa
  • Crowned Lemur
  • White Rhino
  • Grevys Zebra
  • Helmeted Guineafowl
  • Ground Hornbill (either subspecies)
  • Spur Winged Goose
  • A Chameleon

Nightmare:

  • Monkeys
  • Subspecies of other existing animals

I think that gerenuk should get in, they are unique and beautiful. I mean, imagine a new feeding station that's not as high as the one for the giraffes and the gerenuk standing on two legs to eat from them, it would be awesome
gerenuk.jpg

Also, there are more antelopes in Africa that imo need to be included, in most zoos there are a lot of species of antelope, and from Africa we only have the sable antelope, the wildebeest and the gemsbok (I'm talking about "big" antelopes, not gazelles) so I think that antelopes like Eland, Waterbuck, Kudu, Addax, Scimitar horned oryx or blesbok could be a nice addition. Of course not all of them, but maybe two or three species: the gerenuk and maybe the eland, and then leave the scimitar oryx for an endangered species pack (as they are extint in the wild).
It will also add some diversity to our savanaah habitats, I feel that I almost always have to create a habitat for the same combination of animals, maybe it's just me, I really love African antelopes :)

There are plenty of dream animals for an African Pack for me personally. I think one of the most important parts of an African section is often having mixed species enclosures, so my dream species will tend to be those that can be kept in such exhibits:

1. African rhinoceros: White or black, I'm not overly fussed either way. I don't think I would want both in the same pack though.
2. Banded mongoose: I know lots of people want meerkats, but I have to say I prefer these - they're slightly larger and would share an enrichment bonus with warthogs.
3. Red river hog: Colourful and lives in both rainforest and savannah mixed enclosures alongside species ranging from gorillas to giraffes.
4. Bat eared fox: Again, slightly larger than the probably more popular fennec, and is mixed with a variety of other species including warthogs, aardvarks, bongo, ostriches and, in one German zoo, elephants.
5. A rainforest monkey: Red capped mangabey may be my top choice, but any kind of mangabey or guenon would be gratefully received by me.
6. Another smaller mammal: Cape crested porcupine, dik-dik or a species of hyrax; all of these are able to be kept in a variety of different enclosures.
7. Large ground bird: Grey crowned crane, secretary bird or Southern ground hornbill - all threatened and all kept in mixed and walkthrough enclosures.

I have very few 'nightmare' species save for things like another type of lion, giraffe or great ape. There are some species I would be less fussed by:

  • Colobus monkeys: They're nice enough animals and well-suited for both mixed enclosures and walkthroughs, but I'd be a bit concerned if the shagginess of their coats is lost in the way the orangutan is.
  • Similar antelopes: Antelopes very similar to something already in-game such as the roan antelope, another gazelle, sitatunga or the blue wildebeest would not be my top picks, although they would doubtlessly add variability to savannah enclosures.
  • African leopard: I would rather see an Asiatic subspecies (Persian, Amur and Sri Lankan would all be preferable, in my opinion), simply because those are the animals I have seen.

In terms of exhibit animals, I would most like a species of cobra, chameleon or the Seychelles giant millipede, although I would probably accept almost anything.

Ok now for an official on-topic answer.

My wishlist for an ALL-OUT-AFRICAN-EXPANSION would be:

1. Secretary Bird (Unique looking, like a eagle on stilts and this game needs more birds, desperatly)
2. Shoebill (Another bizarre bird that is unique in the world of appearances, and the game needs more birds.)
3. Generuk (The most bizarre antelope of Africa, game can't be complete without them.
4. African Porcupine (The big one, this game needs a spined-creature, they would be cool in the african savannah with giraffes and antelopes around,)
5. Honey Badger (They have character man! This little fellow has no fear, and would be perfect for this game.
6. Fossa (As my username may tell you, they are among my favorite creatures, bizarre and the biggest predators of Madagascar, they should be included!)
7. Serval (The cat version of the Maned Wolf, another bizarre animal that really needs to be covered!)
8. Chameleon, a big one. My favorite lizard-type, they are unique with their color-changing powers and bizarre movement/tongue.

I'm sure the White Rhinoceros/Black Rhinoceros will also be there, I don't mind it, but I'd rather see the animals above, also Meerkats, I would really like them, but they didn't fit my list, I like Porcupines more, because they look so bizarre and never been in a zoo-game before, while they are in every zoo in holland! (are their spikes a hell to animate in games?)
Other cool animals that I want are the small cute Fennec Fox, the beautiful most clean of pigs the Red River Hog, the funny and nimble Sifaka and Indri, the bizarre African Ground Hornbill and the water-loving Waterbuck.
Don't forget the biggest antelope called Eland (funny fact, in the Netherlands Eland actually is the name for the MOOSE, lol.)
The African Maned Mountain Sheep (forgot the name in English) is also cool, but I'd rather see the Markhor appear, my all-time favorite animal after the Cassowary and Giant Anteater.
Guineafowl could be a fun addition to be walking around with big mammals such as Wildebeasts and Giraffes.
Bat-Eared Foxes and Aardwolves are both bizarre and amazing, wouldn't mind them either!
Crowned Cranes are beautiful, but a bit overdone in my opinion. Hammerkop Birds are too small right?

For smaller reptiles and insects, those bird-eating Armored Bush Crickets are awesome, also the Black Mamba is magical. Does Africa has any Mantis? This game desperatly needs some MANTIS people!.

Damn, I kinda want the African pack to have 20 animals lol, just make it a full-out expansion, like Zoo Tycoon did all those years ago!

My nightmare is, more zebra's, more lions, more giraffes, more gorilla's, sub-species in general, who needs/wants them before more unique animals? The animal I like least in this game is the Bonobo Chimpansee for this reason, also I really dislike Chimps, scary human-like animals, ugh.

Baboons are cool and all, but Mandrills are better and I'd rather see Gelada's the mountain monkeys.

Nile Crocodile, another horror-scenario, I don't see a difference with Saltwater Crocodiles, but that's just me.

I know everbody LOVES the Leopard, but I don't want them, I already have my favorite Jaguar and Snow Leopard, don't need this rather bland family member.

While the Dikdik is cool, I'd rather see a small deer instead, the Musk Deer to be exact, the vampire of the deer world.

Dream:
White rhino
Meerkat
Fennec fox
Addax
Red River hog
Somali wild donkey
Hamadryas Baboon
EX: Gaboon viper

Nightmare:
Absence of Red River hog and Somali wild donkey in a DLC would be a real nightmare for me.
I will gladly welcome all animals. I don’t actually have any animals that would be nightmare for me except maybe farm animals which I like but not necessarily in this game.

For the animal pack dlc dedicated to Africa I would need more slots than just 7 actually.
