After 30 long years...

There was I, quietly enjoying my retirement back on earth, staring up at the stars reminiscing, when suddenly I hear a "BING!" on the pc. An email arrives from FRONTIER mentioning something about "interesting goings on in the Lugh system", and by the looks of it, WAR immanent. Would I be interested in coming out of retirement and if so paying a visit to the training dept to get myself up to scratch?
Would I be interested!!!! Are they serious??? This is the moment I have sat here and dreamt about and waited for all these years. Terrestrial dossing is and staring at the sky is just not my bag.
Dusting off my old Fedaration uniform, I grab my verification code and make a dash for the first available shuttle to take me up to Combat Training Dept. This is it!!!! The time has arrived for Commander moBo to make his mark in interstellar history.

Glad to see I ain't the only old git :D not that I ever thought that would be the case.

Elite was the game that started me off, there was no way in hell I wasn't gonna be here for the 16th.

Just had a look at the "generic joystick" settings. GULP! This is gonna take me a whole lotta time just in setting up my old X-45 hotas on it's own. I can feel a forum search coming on :p

Hello,
another old git passing by. Do you remember the movie "Space Cowboys"? (Clint Eastwood, James Garner, Donald Sutherland & Tommy Lee Jones) they all had the "right stuff" but they never got to fly in space. Nevertheless, their time came in the end. Good luck with that joystick, commander!

Its been a long time. I'm another old git, coming in from the cold.
The lingo has changed, joystick/hostas, head tracking, voice attacking... All I remember was bashing the crab out of the spacebar...

I hear you loud there. Cant seem to get the search function working on the forums, and I know that I saw someone with the same Saitek X-45 setup, post a profile the other day.

LOL I loved that movie, especially the part where they send the tray of 'gerber' over to the young flight crew :D

Even though you're a Federation type, I wish you good luck on the star lanes!

You will spot all us old School players. We will be the ones just looking opened mouth thinking " Wow" and I mean old school "Wow" none of that world of warcrap :) our ships will be sitting ducks as we take in the sights and breath in everything. A brand new player never played Elite will come out the station thinking "Kill" :)

I'm only a Federation Type because that's where the game started me off. Still very much a new boy, so I haven't chosen a side yet. Maybe I won't :)

Well the old Fed uniform is a bit of a tight squeeze these days (button undone on me trousers) and I have a bit of time throughout my training to consider my options and try and delve a wee bit deeper into who's pushing who into what exactly? Hmmm....

Well, not to derail this fine thread with politics, buuuut I reckon the Federation's #1 export to the rest of the universe is "celebutantes". Even so, many a fine pilot got their start in the Federation - nobody can fault them for lack of talent!
