After 4 days, completely smitten by exploring in my annie, no other ship will do from now on.....

So for a while now I've been itching to get back exploring, after completing a seven week trip back in feb/march to the core, and meandering back.

For that I used an Asp which was great, always thought I would carry on using her. However I have been tempted into re equipping my Anaconda for exploration, albeit at the time a little reluctantly, wondering if the comparative lack of manoeuvrability would annoy me compared to the Asp, for the sake of the extra range.

Well after 4 days, I can categorically say it doesn't  The Anaconda is king, it runs so cool, even scooping at over 1000kgs a sec (which in itself is just awesome) my temps never go over 64%, plus it has an amazing hull if you were to f it up.

Here is the build I finally went for,

Yes I know I have no shields, but if anyone really wants to kill you 3d shields aren't going to cut it anyway, and I wanted a 41 light year max jump range.

I have also parked my A grade Python at a station that is on the very edge of habited space, which is a very quite system with the station 300ls from the star, which I will eventually be returning to and changing into pronto on return.

And did I mention it takes great screenshots.....

Found my first system with over hundred objects yesterday,

And my first system with two earthlikes,

Now onwards:)

I'm about 50 Million off affording that (if I sell my Python) and I would so like to go out exploring in an Anaconda. I'm going to buy a cut down version and go trading in one called The Anacargo, then when I can afford it - trick it out with upgrades and go exploring. Not sure what I will rename her to at that point. Possibly "The Grey Ghost" in honour of my own tag.

Mine will be a solo play ship only... limited defense if any... (Oh and could you wrap spoilers around all the pictures? It takes ages to scroll)

Great looking ship CMDR. I was surprised by your 2nd fuel tank though.

Only negative to it is the route planner will plot 37lys as max instead of 39lys, other than that it makes no difference, max jump range is still the same.

Nice looking, but the thought of all that wallowing around in SC gives me the creeps
I have got a Conda, but have never taken it out, just travelling around the bubble is bad enough.

It sure does run cool in general use. But I've had quite a few cases where jumping into close binaries has resulted in heat damage, one of which caused ~20% damage to most modules and took a couple out completely - thankfully just the cargo hatch and docking computer :D. So make sure to carry AFMUs. By comparison, I never once took damage from binaries with my trusty old Cobra.

Agree, I was wondering about the lack of manuverability at first but it is fine. With 4D shields and a couple of beam lasers it is actually not bad defensive wise although I wouldn't pick a fight on the way back from the black. I'm about 1 month in now on my exploration trip and it is a joy to fly. I went for an extra 32 tonne tank of fuel, my luxury is the A7 scoop - in that respect it is better than the ASP.

Next stop, 65kly

Enjoy
