Heya Commanders,
So I finally decided after 7 years to ask the mightiest of might questions! Why do we have 3 fighter pilot spots but only ever need one pilot?
I know, I know, I know, I know, completely stupid question coming from a Vet but I never really cared until now.... "shrug" Can I blow one out of the air lock when they miss and still have 2 spares?
Oh, wait, is this like road side assistance but in a fun way........o7

But seriously I've never understood the point. Help me out here guys.

Pilots used to be able to die.

I kept three Elites around, so I'd always have replacements if I lost one, or two, before I could finish ranking up another. Before the SLF latency bug was introduced in 3.4 (IIRC), I made fairly heavy use of NPC piloted fighters in PvP, so losing them, while uncommon, was still a distinct possibility.

My CMDR still has three, because credits are irrelevant, so whatever cut they take is meaningless as long as it leaves enough for basic running costs (which at current rate of depletion will last me about three hundred years if my CMDR is never force fed another credit).

I see no reason to have more than one, but who knows maybe there is a plan for the future......o7

If you are one of those that think that money is too easy adding 3 fighter pilots to your payroll would be a way to address the issue.

They are a way to spend money after you have been given it multiple crew is a way of reducing how much you get, by possibly around 50%.

Oh sure, but I’ve no niche for an Extra person Or fighter bay. I kill plenty efficient on my own without having to multitask ship management among real people. I can pull in close to 100 million an hr. As it is my FC cost 10 million a week not including fuel Which the way I’m using it might cost me 35 million a month if that. I’m sitting pretty with around 7 billion in assets and 3 billion in cash reserves, a fine collection of Oprah Magazines in the bathroom and endless fun.
I’m just waiting for FD to get on the stick and release Odyssey on PS so I can spend more credits.
