Horizons After falling down a ice gorge, I wish my SVR have a hook launcher

It has been a quite distressing experience. I approached a gorge in Dione moon, Saturn, and suddendly, my Rover started to slide down. I didn't realize that the ground had become frozen because the few sun rays that reaches that gorges. I push throttle to maximum in the Rover and pointed out but it was late, my SVR started to slide down all the way to the bottom of the gorge. Some parts of the trip where a lot stressing. I play using Oculus Rift, and as I was falling down, whirling and tumbling, I felt really afraid. It was so real that sometimes I was tempted to stop game there. Finally, my SVR landed in the bottom of the gorge. Huge walls of threating ice surrounded me and I felt small and alone. I tried desperately to move the Rover though the gorge, but not luck. Ice was everywhere, and I was stuck. Maximum speed, thrusters, no matter what, I slided again to the bottom. I requested my ship, but, unfortunately, she landed on top of the gorge, ad the edge. I could see her through the top glass of the SVR, but I couldn't reach her, my saviour.

The end of the story is I have had to destroy myself, and I wish SVRs will have in a future the option to mount a hook launcher, a kind of hook like the one that SUV cars have, but that can be launched used as a weapon from the turret. It could give us a gameplay to capture cargo, to move parts of wrecked ships, or in this case, to climb a huge frozen gorge, and save the day.

Cool story. I've always eventually managed to get out of those situations, but I have managed to get myself stuck inbetween structures at surface settlements and needed to self destruct. Love the idea of a winch with grappling hook.

Cool story. I've never had that much of a problem on ice, but then again I've never found myself in a gorge.

Next time however, just exit out of Horizons, and reload the non Horizons E: D, and you'll find yourself safely in orbit around the planet. No need to self destruct.

Which is a blatant exploit and will likely be removed at some point so use it whilst it's available!

A good trick. I suppose that VR is affecting me so much that I thought to die was my only possible fate. Anyway, after self-destruction, I was given the option to recover my ship with no cost, loosing the Rover, of course, and I appeared in the ship flying outside the moon.

I am curious about any other solution to this situation. I search for modules that can help me in the Rover, perhaps a distress message, but I think that only work if you are in a wing. Not sure about this. Anyone with more knowledge?

Ah the cresta run, I know it all to well!

Big sigh of relief when you finally stop, must be great feeling of doom in VR.

I has a similar thing happen to me... But the end result was my ship was destroyed when it came to get me. It came in too fast and rammed the ground, bounced up in the air and went booooooom!!! Wish I could have had a picture of my face when it exploded. It probably looked like this...

Yes I know... and... I agreee... hmm... I must have totally misread or missed out the last part of your former posting I referred to... [where is it]

So yes, I do agree and I used it also when my SRV went "down under" after logging back into the game... ;)

Man, awesome story. I really like the fact that driving the SRV can sometimes be quite lethal if not careful.

I've never been that stuck myself though, but good to know it can happen.

And yes, a winch would indeed be an awesome addition.
