After losing exploration data, 2nd visit honk doesn't show planets and orbit lines

Hey all, is working as intended?...

When I first visit a new-to-me system and honk, the sysmap shows all planets and I can see orbit lines in supercruise (and can FSS stuff if I want). If I later lose that exploration data (NPC attack), revisit the same system and honk again, now the sysmap is empty, there are no orbit lines, and I need to FSS everything to find out what bodies are there.

Why the different behaviour the 2nd time?

My understanding is the sysmap is only empty after honking if nobody has visited that system before. So it's like the loss of my personal explo data is somehow making those systems show up as completely undiscovered by anyone. It seems borked.

Steps:
1. visit a personally unvisited system (others already discovered it).
2. honk, see all planets etc in the sysmap (as "unexplored"), and see orbit lines in supercruise
3. travel elsewhere and lose the exploration data (destroyed by an NPC)
4. rebuy ship
5. revisit those explored systems and honk again
6. sysmap shows no planets at all (other than those in immediate proximity) and no orbit lines are visible in supercruise. Need to FSS everything.

Just found another post describing exact same issue, so looks like it's known (and unlikely to be fixed...).
