Horizons After over thirty years of computer gaming.......

Elite dangerous is a fantastic technical achievement, but it is a crying shame that such a wonderfull engine is let down so badly by the fact that frontier developments seems incapable of hiring someone competent to work on the game design.

Yes well summed up. Such waste is infuriating.

Completely agree. What happened with missions is just unbelievable. They never been great but now it is simply disaster.

When you're offered a mission requiring ELITE trading rank for 137 credits you know, something is wrong. This is not only stupid, it is insulting.

Meh, I lost 30 million (at least) in bounties/mission cargo/exploration data and had to rebuy my python because I was going 101 through the mailslot when a suicidal unshielded, NPC adder slammed into me. My landing gear was still down. Oh well, it happens, I went too fast.
You flew around in a CZ, made a bunch of money, let yourself get rammed by the slowest turning ship in the game....that's a CZ, that's the risk you run. Guess in the end you actually made more money doing missions than farming a CZ...the game isn't broken or bad because you bit the big one and lost a few credits.

Aside from the VERY rare missions that offered a few hundred thousand for a planetary rescue, I've had absolutely nothing worth taking. I'm not about to go from one planetary settlement to another planet in another system, land in some best, circumvent the defenses and scan a bunch of terminals, then fly all the way back, land again to turn in, just for 40k. Sure the mission structure is neat, but the payout isn't worth the time and effort.

The hostage rescues in space seemed promising... If only they were actually complete-able. That's not even mentioning the severe lack of pirate hunting missions, which used to be my bread and butter. No clue where those went or why FD seems to hate it so much when we have ways to earn money.

Just another Cmdr who agrees that the missions have fallen flat on their face. Which is a shame as my current goal was to get a cutter to then get Elite in trading, to then focus on combat to then have a relaxed epic time exploring the galaxy. I especially miss the pirate hunter missions.

However my gameplay basically consists on doing missions, but that´s because I´m affiliated with a player group and our hobby is to flip systems. There are players who enjoy freedom of choice more than others. Or may be this is a game that demands a little more than just playing it. You should see those spreadsheets... The metagame going on is awesome. Definitely I don´t do missions for the credits
I have some complaints about the background sim though, as there are frequent changes in its rules. This is my main problem with the game: polishing the bgs should be priority for FD imho, as it coulds provide lots of meaningful content

p.s. I also dislike the uss mechanics.

About the loss of your python, I´m sorry for that. Consider that one of the obvious goals in the game is being a good pilot who can prevent crashing or being rammed: I find that more satisfaying than earning credits. With horizons I´ve come with the idea of becoming a good srv driver, with acrobatics and that sort of thing. How much fun can I have before I get the feel of the differnt gravity levels?

You seem mostly upset about being rammed to death by a ship weighing +-2500t. Even if you both only go 100m/s, thats still a collision speed of over 700 km/hr with +-3500t involved. Ofcourse you're death, what reasonable other outcome could there be? If you want ED to be easier and more arcade-like, thats fine, just say so instead.

So you think ramming with a Cutter should be insta-death for everyone? That does not sound like a fun game mechanic to me at all.

Honestly, I think the missions themselves are a great improvement. The mission INTERFACE needs improvement, however, as currently it neglects to give you crucial data. Also, the rewards definitely need some tweaking.

I agree that the missions sound a bit better but they are still broken right now. I am a Baron in the Empire and at the last 3 stations in the middle of Empire space I only met the requirements for a total of three missions. All of the unavailable missions required either Elite, Deadly or Ranger and nothing less. I have no idea how anyone starting out is ever going to get a mission.
