After picking your Factiobn how long can you survive in a High Intensity Conflict Zone?

You mean the nerf how they are now have double the effectiveness?
Yes how terrible

I don't have beta access but I was of the understanding that each SCB use would still recharge the same amount of shield strength as before but would now take twice as long to reach that amount. Hoping I'm wrong, I'm growing attached to my new Python and would hate to have to trade it for an FDL.

Until I'm bored to tears/need a pee break. Maybe an hour or two in the iCourier.

Python is pretty much until I run out of ammo or SCB's with my "general purpose" config. Probably much, much longer if I had a more serious farming config.

Pretty much what everyone else has said. I like using a cannon on my Vulture because it forces me to take a break after 1-1.5 hours when I run out of ammo. Just bought an FAS and I'm looking forward to trying it out.

You are going to LOVE it.

Some good advice in this thread.

Less than a minute in a Vulture for me. I avoid at all cost. I find Low Intensity very challenging indeed.

Usually stay until a figure is reached on bonds. When I was with ALD I would do 20 mil in one sitting. Now about 4 or 5 mil a sitting. You can stay as long as you like, just make sure you don't use weapons that require ammo.

It recharges twice as much, you get a ton of shields back. They do get really hot, though I like it. There is now an actual cost associated with using SCBs and it's quite fun to manage. Big cost (120-140% heat w/o heat sink) with a big reward (tons of shields).

I used to have tons of trouble in CZs, but then I started killing the small ships first, cruising around the edge until I found a cluster of green ships holding their own and snowballed them. Kill the eagles, vipers and cobras first, then move to bigger prey. It's easy to get baited into taking on that anaconda for the 72k, but then you take fire from 4 cobras and it's high wake time. Kill the cobras, over time you make more money even if the NPCs get the anaconda down, chances are you get the money for all 4 cobras (or whatever small fry happens to be there) and your team has done a nice job getting the conda ripe for the picking.

If i'm careful, in principle almost indefinitely, unless i'm unlucky.

I'm not usually careful and frequently unlucky. So usually between 30 mins to an hour before i have to bug out.

That's in a Vulture. I once went into a High RES with a Clipper, had to bug out in 5 mins. Strong shields are a blessing in a high RES.

For some reason, I often find the first minute the hardest. Once I pick a side, I seem to get pummelled by several ships at once - and I don't want to use all my SCBs if I plan to stay a while. If I manage to last that minute or two without my shields going down, I could last an hour or two. It just depends on how patient I am with my shields recharging.

If you start out at the edge of the CZ and you can survive the first few minutes and take out a few enemy ships then you start to swing the balance of power. The enemy are briefly outnumbered allowing more of your side to head back to the centre of the CZ. This is where the new enemy ships will spawn, so they are immediately attacked by superior numbers. As long as you can keep the pressure on the enemy you should be able to maintain the advantage indefinitely (or at least until you need to rearm or repair).

Also, watch out for greens straying into your line of fire. If you do more than softly sneeze at them everything turns red and you have to leg it really fast.

I pick and choose my targets carefully, but I've hung out in there for a couple of hours in an A-rated Cobra with no boosters or cells.

Cheers,

Drew.

Boost twice after entering the zone to get a bit of distance before choosing a side.
Pick your first opponents on the edge of the combat zone.
Pick opponents who are already engaged with a green.

+1.

Just remeber to choose faction when you are not in the middle of the fight.
IF you are in Powerplay CZs, the faction could be chosen from the beginning. In this case, just boost away asap and come back.
With this strategy and paying attention to the area you can stay in a CZ with no limits. I generally grind the 5k merits for the PP rank without going back to station once, and i use no SCBs. Just avoid clusters of enemies, big ships, and give time to the shield for recharge when they are low, fighting at the edge of the "bubble" so you dont get cross fired!
