After recent patch GREEN Targets are "wanted"?

Hello all,

I didn't notice this stated in the patch notes for the patch that just hit but, since the patch, while in Supercruise there are now some green targets on the map that seem to be wanteds. I also seem to be getting a bit more bounty when I kill these and inside of USS.

Why isn't this stated in the patch notes?

Is anyone else noticing this?

They can totally be wanted if you befriended some pirate faction... They will also happily attack you :)

Just like real life they're just people associated with your friendly faction that have committed some crime, be it "accidentally" dumping bio-waste inside a space station to being a Pirate-by-night fellow.

it's sometimes very difficult to sit there and watch a friendly Wanted target milling around in front of you, and not go give him a pasting. but if you value your reputation, you won't attack him.

but if *he* attacks *you* then it's a different story. make him suffer, just make sure he scores the first hit.

I don't get attacked as often by friendly wanteds, but it does still happen occasionally. It just means that they associate with a faction you are on good terms with. Not that they are suddenly your pal.

I have killed a ton of green wanted. what does this effect exactly ?

Depends on the faction they're from. If you're 'allied' with the same faction they are and you kill them, you're going to take a hit to your rep. Kill enough of them, you lose that allied rating and drop to friendly. You can mitigate that somewhat by picking up the bounty missions from the stations you're allied with, to kill pirates/smugglers in that system. Head over to the nav beacon and nuke any 'wanted' ships you find. Even though you killed a few ships that were allied with the same faction, turning in the mission nets you more rep than you likely lost for killing them.

You don't have to be specifically allied with them either. Killing ships affiliated with any given faction is going to be frowned upon by that faction, and is going to lower your rep with them. Taking that same bounty mission, and killing ships from the minor factions in your system will eventually net you an 'unfriendly' rep, or even 'hostile'.

Bottom line is, killing ships is taken seriously by the factions they're aligned with, and will effect your standing with them, and to some extent to the regional faction as well (Empire/Fed/Alliance). If you're a straight up pirate/bounty hunter type who doesn't do missions, and are indiscriminate about who you kill, you're eventually going to eliminate places you can land to refuel, rearm and repair, as well as upgrade modules or ships as the stations reflect that negative reputation.

Not any more, 1.04 completely fixed that. Since that patch I have killed wanted targets of all kinds of factions indiscriminately and never, ever lost reputation for that.

I'd love to see more corroboration of this assertion. Sorry for the 25-cent words. :)

I'm with Mephane. I go to a nav beacon and shoot everyone that comes up wanted. I am now allied with the Empire and friendly with the Federation.
